IGA confirms next Castlevania game, says a bunch of stuff about Dracula X Chronicles

Castlevania series producer Koji "IGA" Igarashi is a man with hair. Crazy hair. And because of this, it's easy to be frightened by him as though you were a kid walking by a bulldog with rabies. This somehow did not deter the folks at 1UP, who recently conducted an interview with the hobo-like producer and Castlevania series composer Michiru Yamane.

Most of the interview is a discussion of the upcoming Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, the game composed of a 2.5D remake of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, the elusive original TurboDuo version, and a retranslated/enhanced Symphony of the Night. While we know what to expect from Rondo of Blood (though no confirmation yet for a redrawn Richter sprite in keeping with his modern non-anime appearance), IGA did confirm that the content added to the janky Saturn port is in the updated Symphony. While Mr. Linde seemed to be excited about this inclusion, those who have seen Retronauts: Bonus Stage know that it's really not all that great. IGA did demonstrate a redesigned Maria who doesn't control and look like shit, but I'm sure the extra areas will be just as poorly designed as they were on the Saturn.

IGA also confirms that the next Castlevania game will be for DS, ruling out any XBLA/VC/PSN distribution as something that doesn't fit the series. One can only hope they stay far away from the generic anime style we've seen with the DS games so far.

about me

Yo. I'm a junior at Syracuse University, studying Television/Film at the Newhouse school.

I love video games, gaming/nerd culture, examining games critically as an art form, and all the useless trivia and data surrounding games. I am a consumer whore. Gaming is obviously one of my primary hobbies, though not the only one. I'm a regular on Failcast.

I also watch anime and read manga when I get the chance. It's mostly just mainstream and shonen stuff as a result of the ease of accessibility, though I try to see some more obscure series when I get the chance.

I have epic hair.

I play bass guitar and have been in a band. It's broken up. I lived the dream.

I love rock. I tend to gravitate towards various types of punk, alternative, or indie, though I'll listen to anything. Bob Dylan rocks. Also, random weird underground stuff. The NES sound chip was amazing.
