Ok, I need to post this and get it off my chest though I will probably rant about it more in the future. Nintendo pisses me the fuck off. I could go on for pages but I am just going to focus on their shitty fuck online shit right now. Nintendo sucks dick, did I mention that?

It seems that every day that I hear one more thing that sucks dick about Nintendo online play. The Wii friends codes are a fucking travesty in and of themselves. That is there first biggest fuck problem. And just to add to the failure that is friend codes, they have managed to figure out how to continue to fuck up. They have actually managed to fail more than Sony in my mind.

When I read the one thing last week about Brawl not having voice support I thought that was dumb as fuck. Not only that, but the dude said that they wanted to add voice support but because of Nintendo's strict rules and regulations that they were unable to add it. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN? The team behind Brawl IS nintendo. What could nintendo possibly do to prevent itself from implementing features that they want to add to their games.

Imagine if Bungie came out and said that they wanted to add voice chat support for Halo 3 but were unable to do so for whatever. Fans of the game would fucking rip the testicles off of every employee that had them at Bungie and then would cut the tits of of every female there. Seriously, it just wouldn't happen. Voice chat is a standard and should be required for every single online game coming out today. I personally won't play games online without voice chat, there is no point.

Honestly, what is the reason to play against people if you have no way to communicate with the people you are playing against. Even old ass PC games had full text support and games like Half Life and its mods had voice chat. It was shitty, yes, but it was there. Every Xbox game that had LIVE multiplayer game had voice chat as far as I know and every single 360 game that has online play is required to have voice chat. It is a bare minimum feature for online games today.

But Nintendo seems to think they can do less than the bare minimum, and they are able to because of nintendo fanboys. I think that nintendo fanboys is who i am most angry at. It is the fault of the nintendo fanboys that nintendo gets away with this fucking bullshit. Xbox Live wouldn't be half of what it is today without the users of Live constantly bitching to Microsoft to make it better constantly. nintendo fanboys need to grow some fucking balls and stop letting nintendo fuck them in the asshole with their $10 million gigantic dick.

It just all pisses me the fuck off. fuck nintendo

I concur. I’m continually amazed by the extent to which Nintendo fans will tolerate this crap. That’s the thing, too: Nintendo has no incentive to include these now-standard features because where else can gamers go to get their fix of Smash Bros. or Mario Kart? That’s right, nowhere — so they’re forced to deal with whatever shoddy online system Nintendo decides to implement. This game is only going to be worth playing in a room with three of your friends.

THANK YOU.

"Well I don't want to hear kids screaming like on Halo."

Mute.

"Use another way to communicate."

Really fucking convenient, right?

And I can't believe some people actually make themselves believe that friend codes are something good. Nintendo fans are fucking ridiculous. How can you expect Nintendo to change when their fanboys try to defend their incompetence?

It's okay to love Nintendo and still criticize their decisions. However, anyone who defends Nintendo's decision to not put in voice support is a fanboy, blinded by their love.

And Ted, Nintendo itself isn't making Brawl. It's headed up by Sakurai and his assembled team of GameArts people, with a few leftovers from HAL. Nintendo is just publishing it.

"Holy fuck, they left out voice chat! A perfect game is ruined because I can't talk online!"

Yeah, it's a bum idea to leave voice chat out of a game. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone sane who would agree that it's a "good idea" to leave an option out if it's easily included. But when you go and blow the whole fucking thing out of the water, as if VC is the WHOLE REASON TO EVER PLAY THE GAME, then you, you're the one sounding like a dick.

Nintendo is handing you a free ice cream cone with sprinkles on it, and you're complaining that there aren't any gummi bears.

You would figure with the strong community and fanbase that Nintendo has, they would try to use a game like Brawl to solidify and expand that community with excellent online features but they squander it. Nintendo needs to stop treating all of their consumers like little children.

Let them know in a calm, rational manner why you will no longer buy their products, and get everyone else you know to do the same. For all the bitching about this on dtoid, why has nobody done this yet?

There are times, late at night, when I'm doing my deep thinking, and I sometimes wonder if Yamauchi still secretly runs the damn company from the shadows because these moves are exactly the stupid shit he would always pull off and ruin something that was otherwise good.

What Nintendo really needs is not pressure from us. They need pressure from the developers and publishers. Those guys speak more powerfully than the hardcore Wii crowd. If we can get them to start putting pressure on Nintendo or asking for certain features incorporated in games or they'll stop developing for them... then we have a better shot.

I just wanna point out that the developers arent the same as Nintendo. While they may be controlled by Nintendo, its the higher ups in Nintendo that are afraid of parents harassing them for threatening their children. If Microsoft told Bungie not to include a feature, would it really be Bungie's fault? No, it would be Microsoft's fault for that massive act of stupidity. So don't look at Sakurai (is that his name?) and blame him and his guys, blame the people with power that control the stupid STUPID decisions Nintendo has made. I'm sure the developers would have added it if they could, but the corporate restrictions that Nintendo enforces to protect the kiddies is what messes them up.

SUMMARY: Don't blame the development team, blame the production team, those cock-gobbling bastards.

Nintendo has some sort of guidelines for voice chat online for some reason and actually Brawl is not developed by Nintendo but published by them. It sucks but it isn't a deal breaker. I still have fun with my Wii despite its limitations. Hey, at least the system doesn't die you on!

But I have played many a games online and there is always someone without a mic. It sucks but doesn't mean it is unplayable.

As such, Smash Bros. will be the last game I ever buy for my Wii and likely the last Nintendo product I ever purchase. I also don't plan on ever playing it online. I don't want them to think for a moment that I'm enjoying their online service. I have Live for that.

Anyone stop to think that the Wii is nearly two years old and there's like 4 games with online?

What does this tell us?

Nintendo doesn't give a shit about online games. The fact that we get online support at all is some sort of miracle on Nintendo's behalf, apparently.

I was kinda on the fence about getting Brawl because I'm not a big fighting game person, but if I can't even rely on fucking TEXT CHAT (a feature that's been available on fucking cell phones since 1995), even after having to deal with the FC system, it's just too much of a hassle to care.

I'm glad I own a Wii, I have an amazing VC console and library, there's a smattering of competent software that appeals to me, it's all really nice, but compared to the 360, and BSD. you can't argue this here...

The Wii just blows for everything that I love about the 360. The community, online features, voice chat, intelligent parental control design, Friend access through a comprehensible NAME.

The controls are great for the games they have, but aside from the innovative control scheme and great VC service, the Wii seriously lacks in every other way.

360 does have a better online competent, but they have had XBL for 4+ years now and they are based from a computer based company so I sure hope they can make a good online service/marketplace/dashboard.

Nintendo is originally a card company that does video games. Microsoft is a computer company, hmmm....

If I want to play online, I don't look to Nintendo. Who does? I look to Nintendo for fun, innovative games besides shooters.

I stopped caring about Nintendo 'online' play when I realized the Wii had friend codes too. The whole point of playing online games is to be able to turn the game on and have hundreds or thousands of available players. If you actually have to go collect codes from people you know... well that defeats the purpose.

They pissed me the fuck off when I got FF3 for DS. My character is highest level but I can never get the best weapon for him until I sent in game emails to 7 people that I know... so I need friend codes to play my single player game. Fuckin bullshit.

I don't even know if you need the friend codes to play Mario Kart or Brawl, but I really don't care to find out. I haven't even played the wii in months because nintendo has pissed me off with piles upon piles of shitty games that they allow on the system. But really, without voice chat, why play online? It's the same as playing against the computer at that point. Communication is how you can tell you're dealing with a real person instead of a bot.

@Snaileb - I know I just really don't care, even about voice chat. Odds are for me at least Ill be playing people I know who I probably would instant message on steam or something prior to playing, though that might not be the case with everyone.

Either way, multiplayer, on any console is best done with 4 controllers and one of these

Are you trying to be an idiot? I know you're smarter than this. You're acting like all of us would just never ever buy Brawl if we had the chance. I'd buy Brawl if I had a Wii and I look forward to playing it at a friend's house. The lack of VC is pretty retarded but that doesn't mean I can't have fun at a friend's house, right?

Yeah, I'm very upset and disappointed with the decisions Nintendo has made in terms of online play, but I've been trying to spend more time looking at the positive points in the whole situation (you don't have to be a fanboy to think positively). Honestly, I really am happy that Brawl is online at all. And the people that I would want to talk with, I can by using Live's friend voice chat room while playing the game (or vent).

So I can't meet new people online in Brawl. Well that sucks, but I'm not going to let that stop me from having a good time. Once again, at least I have people I can play with online so I don't have to constantly beg my busy friends to come over and play Smash for a bit. And there are actually times when playing games like Smash where things get so heated that everyone is silent because they are focusing on the match so much.

Yes, Nintendo is seriously screwing up online play and they are definitely focusing more on their new demographic and less on us gamers that made them what they are (almost to the point of negligence) and I'm VERY upset about this. However, the fact that they still toss us the table scraps from time to time is a good sign to show that they still remember us.

I think Nintendo has the realistic potential of eventually reaching an online evnironment similar to Live and will do so in the future. I say this because they're known for moving slowly with trends. It took them an extra generation before they began to focus (somewhat) on online; it took them an extra generation to use the disc format; it took them half a generation to use voice chat online (granted, it's only in 2 of their first party DS titles right now--Prime Hunters & Pokemon). Actually, speaking of voice chat, one thing I don't get is if they have these "rules and regulations" about online play, then why didn't they just include voice chat for friends only like the DS games..? Guess it'll be another big 'ol mystery to file under the "WTF, Nintendo?" category.

I think that a developer boycott of Nintendo to get them to shape up or ship out would be a GREAT idea. I would truly love to see that happen. And if things continue to go this way, it could happen sooner than we think.

For me, I don't really "tolerate" Nintendo's lack of true multi-player options as I'm not usually one to care about it.

It's true that I'm excited about Brawl because of the multiplayer options. It will be nice to play with some DToiders for once. But at the end of the day, I'd rather sit back and play a great single-player game. That's just my preference.
