And it is awesome. Alas, I could only buy the Orange Box with the money I had, but it's still freaking sweet. I was just playing Half Life 2 and Portal. Here's what I've learned so far.
-Portal is goddamn hilarious. Since I'm pretty much the last person on Earth to play Portal, I was nervous about the game not living up to the hype. But no worries, as the game was awesomely smart and funny. My favorite part so far are the talking guard turrets ("No hard feelings.")
-HEADCRABS ARE FUCKING TERRIFYING OH GOD WHAT WAS THAT SOUND
-Half Life is a lot more fun when it doesn't hurt your head (the first half life on the PS2 caused me some bad headaches).
-Team Fortress 2 is a lot less fun when you can't play it. Fucking Xbox live.
On an related note, the spider is back. Actually, it's a different spider. This doesn't matter because the first time I saw it, it was in the middle of the room. Then it was at the bottom of the stairs. Now, it's on the wall next to the stairs, halway to the top. SHIIIIT.
On a random note, there was a Katamari game that was released for the 360 a while back. Was it any good?
Anyway, here's something to celebrate this grand day: The music video to Royksopp's "Happy Up Here," which has some sweet 3D Space Invaders in it, to keep with the video game themes or something.
Ooo totally should have gotten a PS3 instead :P. Haha have fun with it.
I found the best way to get over my fear of spiders was to introduce yourself to centipedes. Those motherfuckers are disgusting and aren't afraid of you. If you try and kill one and miss, they'll rush out at you *shudders*
Kingdom Hearts? How old are you, 5? I thought the game was bad when I played it back in 5th grade, so I can't imagine being able to even attempt to play it today. The story was bleh. The characters were boring. And the dialogue was shit. Sorry, but that is not an RPG anyone older than 10 should play.

If you have enough money later on, I say you get a larger hard drive if you only have the 20gb one. That's so you won't need to worry about load times or swapping discs as much. Just saying, might be a hassle having to change discs in games like FF13 or Lost odyssey.
Congratulations on the new purchase! Don't forget to check out BestBuy's $10 game sale! DMC4, Soul Calibur 4, Infinite Undiscovery, and Silent Hill are some titles you might be interested if you enjoy those genres.

Spiders?! You don't know what terror is. This is Terror. Amblypygids, man, fucking huge, live on the fear of orphans and dog hearts. They've got bodies the size of your spider, legs out like dinner plates.

I personally don't have one, but I suggest that you hook yourself up to the internet soon, XBLA has all sorts of awesome stuff like Castle Crashers, Braid, The Dishwasher, the R-Type 1&2 remake thing (forgot the title), and the upcoming Virtual On: Orotorio Tangram and Marvel vs Capcom 2.
As for physical games, maybe Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden 2, DMC4, Rock Band, Halo 3 (I like it, sue me!), Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Gears of War 2, and... I don't know, I don't own one of the damn things.
Hope you don't get an E74 or RROD!

I hope you enjoy the console. I'd start recommending games, but there are too many to list. I'm more of a PS3 fan, personally, but the 360's library truly makes me jealous sometimes. There's so much you can get for it.
Pretty sure Dead Rising is a greatest hits game now. I'd recommend that.
Castle Crashers on XBLA is also a must-buy. It'll last you much longer than many $60 games.
Once you get the cash, pick up Fallout 3. I've put in well over 80 hours now. Dead Space is another game I'd recommend...I think Best Buy has it on sale for $40. If not, wait for the price to drop a bit. It's a short, yet awesome, game. Good for a lot of cheap scares.
Speaking of...one of my sisters lives in Florida. She has a horrible fear of spiders, and just her luck, they are all over the place down there. She said there's one that has black-and-white stripes that is at least 5 inches long. And then there's this one.
My other sister swears that there's a 9" spider living in my parents' basement (up here in PA). She said she saw it move a small ball across the floor as it ran from her. I think she either saw a mouse or was smoking a bit too much of the wacky weed that day.
Also have to say that you may a good choice. Sure, we 360 owners may have the RROD hanging over our heads, but I am honestly using my 360 as much as I previously used my PS2 (which was practically every day). I sneak in 15-20 minutes of gameplay before work, and then play when the kids go to bed.
I went in with this console thinking I'd get a few games and stick to my PS2 as the main console. Almost a year later, I'm almost at 40 games for the 360.

Also, only buy beautiful katamari if it's cheap, I was kinda disappointed. Plus, the 360's offset analog sticks made it feel weird.
