Yeah, why does two years sound like a good life span for a 360 now? It's incredibly sad, and yes, the SNES is probably the most durable console I know of. Console manufacturing ain't what it used to be.

Shitty man. Hopefully by now they are sending back refurbs that aren't total pieces of shit. My friend's refurb has lasted about 6 months with no problem.
Also, (and this applies to everyone) plug your 360 directly into the wall and not into a power bar/surge protector. I have an extremely limited knowledge of how electronics work, but it has something to do with the xbox needing access to as much power as it can get, and not getting enough power from the surge protector which increases the chances of RRoD.
We should form a club. Everyone who's had a failed 360. Sign ups!

@ gravitys plaything: I took off the hard drive. It says specifically on the support site not to send it back with the system. So all I have to do when I get it back is just pop the thing back on. Boo yah!

Awww, Mixy, that is terrible! I feel so sad now, my Xbox RRoD about a month ago, but got it back in a jiffy! Just look forward to getting that Mario Sweater! It will cheer you up!

I have a launch 360 that hasn't RRoD yet. I'm pretty sure it'll do it the first day after warranty though ;_;
Ah crap, that is terrible. Mine just did that last month. Luckily, I got it back in 12 days! I was surprised and got my same box back, refurbished and quieter than ever. I think they replaced the DVD drive along with fixing the main RROD issue.
I hope you are fortunate enough to have the same speed/upgrades as well!
