Tetris: a great game, and a legend on a system that's also a legend, the game boy. So many hours spent making lines, doubles, triples, tetris (which made the weirdest sound!), getting addicted, dreaming about it, preventing the family from stealing your game boy for just another quick fix... We all know the drill. And that obsessing music.
I'm in film school in Paris, and last summer as I spent time in the editing classroom, i chatted with a former editing teacher who became a friend. As there weren't many people in school during that period, we often listened to music, and sometimes sang. But we didn't sing loudly as we didn't want to bother nearby people who might actually have been working, and so we came up with the idea for a movie: 'the guys who don't sing loudly'! One of the perks of being in film school is all the shitty to terrible movie ideas you can discuss, 'cause you never know which one is gonna end up a great movie... hopefully!
About a month later, we talked about Tetris and noticed how much it resembled the french
"t' es triste" which means "you're sad". Then we thought: how 'bout two guys singing the tetris music while looking depressed? We'd call it
TETRISTE!
And here's the result. It started our on going series, which I labeled 'trist-o-games/sadgames'. Tetriste had a good response on Dailymotion as it was posted on the main page, but we've done many more videos ever since, and they weren't as lucky and didn't get much viewing, which meant very little feedback.
So I come to you, my fellow destructoidees, for praise, insult, encouragement or vague disdain: tell us what you think!
More to come, blog you soon!
