When my friends and I get together at wherever it is we decide to get together. Specially with my good friends RobotFart and DanMazkin, there will always be at least 1 hour of conversation about games and 1 hour conversation about Anime. Which is total win, especially when I am high as a kite, wizzing off my tit or my pupils are the size of dinner plates.
And usually one of us or an outsider will but in and say out of nowhere 'We really are nerds ey?'...No, you fuck! We are not nerds...we are geeks. There is a difference. Nerds are fail and Geeks are win. Neo was a geek and look what happened to him...HE BECAME THE MOTHER FUCKING ONE! Ok, I have kind of gone off the track here. Bottom line is Nerds like shit like calculus, chemistry and tucking their shirts into their underwear...fail. Us Geeks like gaming, anime, film, usually dress in some very outspoken and cool t-shirts and our sex lives seem to still be somewhat active (I prey that I speak for all of us). But in all seriousness, I could write a whole new entry about this, which I may do later on down the track. For now...Anime and why it is just THAT fucken good. Ninja Scroll's award winning bamboo battle: I'm not ashamed to admit that the first Anime I ever watched was Ninja Scroll when I was 15 (uncensored and totally awesome) and I think many people are in the same shoes. It pretty much set the standard for any other Anime that would follow. The story of a Ronin getting himself involved in a battle with 8 demons, all with different appearances and talents, from one containing a hive of his back full of killer bee's to the another being a blind samurai who can hear every sound made around him. It was the ultimate adventure tale.
The 2nd offering of anime I was given was Street Fighter - The Animated Movie which I was so happy for because it helped me forget the shit that was Van Damme's ball waste. And the fact that the final closing track as Ryu was jumping to fuck up Bison in the truck was epic...What was it again...Blind by Korn (when Korn were great!). It was a great film which really made you excited when you saw a brainwashed Ken and a focus regretting Ryu face each other.
Many people said to me that unless I have seen Akira, I have no right to even be watching Anime to begin with, and they were correct in saying that because when I did come to the process of watching it, my eyes were wide and my brain nearly exploded. The fact that this was made close to my birth was something I could not understand. Because there was Disney making total shit for the spawn of parents that couldnt be fucked entertaining their children anymore, so they would sit there kids down in front of the television and go about their day, unknowingly creating the panasonic youth which they would blame everything else (including gaming and metal music) except themselves...and on the other hand, here was this great creation of Japanese Animation which would make a lot of people question to reality of many things. Overnight Anime won the respect of a more openminded culture, and Disney won the respect of fuckwit parents. Getbackers - Amano Ginji VS Dr. Jackal Since then I have watched many different series and movies. Some more respected by the Anime cult following than others. Getbackers, the story of two teenage males with special powers, starting up a recovery service and walking away from their current lifestyles but eventually having to deal with the demons of their dark past in the process. There was many things to like about that series, the two lead characters followed the same traits as many stories concerning two central characters, where one would be the more heart driven - kinda stupid and the other would be a prick - but smart. I became fanscinated with both their stories and what they needed to do to be rid of their dark history.
Full Metal Alchemist has a cult following about as large as Anime itself, I have seen more t-shirts, necklaces and designs with transmutation circles, Edwards jacket symbol and central characters. But there is a reason for all this and that is because it is a deep and wonderful fictional story with hidden non-fictional elements of sacrifice, brotherly love and commitment. The amount of times I got goose-bumps because of what would happen next in this series, I have lost count. Again two central characters with two different character traits, one more heartfelt and doubting, the other more cocky and confident.
Lately I have been watching Samurai Champloo which was frowned upon by many Anime fans for being a more Western based, Eastern based Anime. But I love the characters and the time setting as well as how alike but not alike the characters are. Mugan and Jin, the lead Ronin in this tale act like they hate each other's guts, but they are alike in so many ways its hard to not love their consistant sword dueling, knowing that there is no way they will ever be able to kill each other because they are just as good as each other when it comes to sword play. It is within their morals and manner where the differences lye. Mugan is a cocky bastard (which sometimes I can't stand), and Jin is the honourable, quiet one. However both get each other out of shit and act as if they are doing it for themelves because they don't want the other to believe that their is a friendship there. Pure Genius. Best onscreen chemistry between two male Ronin that could ever be portrayed. The Final Battles in Samurai Champloo: Many people have different likes and dislikes in Anime and I respect them all, because that is the great thing about Anime, it is many different cult followings within the larger cult following, but in the end it makes a whole. Which is why it is so widely loved and hated by different people. Fuck, my friends are even starting to get into Hentai, and let me tell you this, watching Nightshift Nurses while eating is not a good idea, especially after the head doctor sucks on a nurses used tampon, stuffs eggs up her arse, fucks it and then tells her he wants her to lick his arsehole...I LOVE ANIME!!! In the end, it all has its weak and strong points, but nothing I say is going to stop you from what you love and vice versa. So when somebody does say, 'youre a nerd' or 'youre a geek' or whatever the fuck they want to call you, just remember, you ain't no fucken sheep like most of the world that likes to believe they are following normality when most of the time they have no idea what the fuck normality is. Much love and respect (obviously) Moses P.S- Let me know if you have any suggestions for a good Anime that you think I would enjoy. P.P.S- Don't get bitchy because I mentioned an Anime you hate or didn't mention one you love. P.P.P.S- I hate english dubbed anime, I much rather watch it with subtitles P.P.P.P.S- Eat a dick

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most well-rounded anime, and it works on pretty much every level. Incredible action, hilarious comedy (Roy Mustang rules), and heartbreaking agony all fit into one beautifully animated package.
I'm with you on every other anime that you mentioned. Please tell me that you've seen Cowboy Bebop, because it is 1,000 times better than Samurai Champloo. That's not an attack on SC, but Cowboy Bebop is THAT good.
Death Note is quality, but only if you have patience and are interested in psychological/cat-and-mouse kinda stuff. There's not a whole lot of fighting or epic battles.
Personal favorites of mine are anything Gundam-related (I just watched 14 episodes of Zeta Gundam last night), Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X, Hellsing, and FLCL. Ghost in the Shell is also worth looking into, as well as pretty much anything made by Hayao Miyazaki.
