Lost Planet 2, Review, and Rating
Mr Klinck | 2:58 PM on 05.15.2010 6 comments

I have to say that, in comparison to the first, it surpasses in many ways, but in others, it does fall short, or rather, not stay true to the name. I'm gonna rate this game based on several topics, control(how it handles in comparison to other shooters and the first one), story line, campaign game play, multilayer, unlocks and weapons, and game software performance and design.
The story is based for a 4 player, friendly co-operative experience, and as such, succeeds for the most part. you go through the game as several different factions, in an incoherent sloppily thrown together way. although each episode you are clearly one faction going towards one goal, and it is not hard to piece together whats going on, there is no real connection other than the planet itself. Although it is really not in-depth or interesting, they try with flashy effects, and "epic cut scenes", which I did enjoy, in a comical way. Although i adored the first game for the the fun almost arcade like shooting style in the campaign, the default control settings are not as free flowing or nice as the first, It isn't hard to get it back to the old feeling at all though(which many reviews dinged it for). Its as simple as setting the camera to normal 2, the movement speed to maybe 6 or 7, and let the aim have movement room on the screen. This took me a whole 10 seconds to do while playing. The human enemies vary in costumes and place, but for the most part are the same in intelligence and tactics. Although I wasn't tired of killing them, some people tired of it and just wanted the boss battles. The boss battles vary from epic, to, please just die already you huge annoying bug. Personally i enjoyed most of the battles/levels. Except the infamous "train bug" level. It takes about 45 minutes to complete. There are three stages to the level, and if you mess up in the last minute, you must restart. This was unforgivable. Which reminds me, you must complete a chapter fully, usually about 20-35 minutes, to get credit for it, and you may not save during to start at some area in it. although this didn't bother me that much, it does aggravate on occasion.
The multilayer stays true to the last game, but amps it up more for you gun nuts. with 7 unlock-able guns in each category, and endless outfit combos available, it will make you want to play though some campaign levels, and multiplayer matches, to show off your swag. There are also a smattering of grenade types, including one that shoots up like confetti, and demolishes you enemies mid air. The graphics and game play stay true to the multiplayer in the last, which is big flashes, lotsa mechs, and some pretty awesome looking levels.
The games software performance, in terms of character movement, cut scenes, menus, and saving, varies. The enemies and allies moving about look great in these environments, in the cut scenes as well. The menu, while pretty, take a bit to move through, and sometimes you just wanna get to see your new stuff, while its a petty complaint, i did notice this. The saving as I said before, was not up to par.

OVERALL: The game looks and performs pretty amazingly in campaign and multiplayer. With the exception of some annoying bosses. The saving system, again, was not good. The story was absent, but the co-op action and fun redeemed it pretty well for me. The multiplayer unlocks and gun fun, are enough to fill your day with level grinding. as a score, i can only give this game a 7.8. Because although it met all of my expectations from the first one, and exceeded them, i can recognize that on a design basis, the makers dropped the ball. I am a huge fan of lost planet and i will continue to be, because for all its faults, i cant get my hands on any other shooter now a days that has this fun unrealistic arcadey feel to it, and pull it off so well. I love going back and playing my favorite levels to boost my score to get new outfits weapons and abilities to mash up my opponents with in the multiplayer. I know I avoid certain levels because of annoyance, but i cant help but enjoy many others. As a whole, i know this installment from lost planet will give me tons of play time just like the last one did.

OUCH, a DLC? Burns the Bioshock'ed masses!
Mr Klinck | 12:34 PM on 03.12.2010 4 comments

Lotsa people here know what the DLC was that released for Bioshock 2 yesterday. If you don't however, check it out hya. I dont know YOU and as such, you might have heard this from a friend who already spent the 400 ms points on this content. If they did(or you did) I bet you noticed how fast the download was, no? It took a whole 2 seconds... Oh dear. This was an unlock key, disguised as a DLC? No doubt, I am not disgruntled with my purchase, I enjoy the game and this "add on" a good amount. On the other hand, I felt after playing a few hours, that this SHOULD have been there from the begining. This was a low blow from 2K Games, I see the reason for releasing it as DLC, to extend the life of the online play... But taken 5 dollars from people who bought your game? Or even reserved it at full price months ago(me)! Shame, eh. I just hope they release some new maps DLC, that ISN'T on the the game already, hidden in the codding. What do you guys think? Want more? Hate the DM (D*ck Move) of the charge for content held away at first?

Game Three gets a title, and a story (BattleBlocks Theatre)
Mr Klinck | 9:49 AM on 03.10.2010 4 comments

Coming from the great minds at The Behemoth, we see the third title get a name, and a story. One of the largest titles on XBLA and soon to PSN, Castle Crashers, has left a big ass foot print, is this game ready to fill that and maybe make some new toe marks in the ground? Its up for speculation, the game seems to be a complex platformer with fighting fun thrown in. The game entails that your and your friends have been stuck on an island, and your friends being taken hostage, leaving you and you platform pals(4 player co-op) to help save the day. With a story that promises to be oddly epic, as did CC, we can be excitied, for this crazy and hilarious thrill ride. The multiplayer aspect in this one, reachers farther than just the story lines co-op, and some very mediocre mini-games from the last title. The multiplayer aspect seems to delve into more team based side games to play with no, or very little, main game conections. Ones that will deal with hitting up whales for gold, pushing friends into toxic slush, and etc. Personally I have been waiting on their next title ever since me and my 3 friends beat CC on release day. Some last thoughts, this title will most likely sell for about what the last one did (15 dollhairs), which I can respect for how many times I must have replayed it. No specific date yet for release, just the notion of it happening in 2010, I'm patient, but not that patient...
