Ok, I made a shortblog with a quick rant recently, but I am actually going to give my reasons in case some of you go into denial. So I will get with this mindless soapbox once again to reinforce my opinion. There are different reason to not do so, but overall: both games are NOT the same. Sorry but comparing inFAMOUS with [PROTOTYPE] is like comparing Mario Kart 64 with Cruisin' USA. The only similitudes I find are these; 1. They share a sand box mechanic 2. it's about a guy with wacko superpowers That's all. If you still insist that they are the same, I will actually bother analyzing each of them. First, inFAMOUS (not due to preference, but alphabetical order. And the brackets don't count here.)
inFAMOUS is a game that you roam to the city having the responsibility to either use your powers for saving the city from havoc, or destroying everything what is left of it. The player has to face a moral dilemma in simple ethics to be a ultimate power or to help the menaced people. I really appreciate that the player gets to build his own story path for the world's destiny, I hadn't seen something similar since Sonic Adventure 2. Children easily will pick the evil side as there are more powers and red electricity is "badass" for them, but personally I would like to make good for the world and the weak. I prefer to defend rather than attack, it is something personal. (and I expect a statue of pure gold in my honor) Now let's go with [PROTOTYPE]
[PROTOTYPE] on the other hand tells the story about an amnesiac live experiment that was hidden under New York City. As the protagonist Alex Mercer is menaced by the army and even the New Yorkers, he has to find the responsible of his monstrous powers even if that means sacrificing many lives. Now in [PROTOTYPE] you can do a blood bath being the evil mutant Superman with Fullmetal Alchemist abilities, which is fun mindless destruction still not my cup of tea when it becomes that mindless, I am not a natural sadist. However this game also features stealth kind of like Metal Gear Solid or Perfect Dark, just with more shape shifting. You have to integrate with the militia without being tracked to find what is going on all behind the chaos in the city and yourself. You are a hero but even though you are a monster too. Both games give the player a feeling of responsibility on using a devastating power right, but they are in no way exactly the same. Just in a final point, if you STILL adamantly insist that they are the same and should be debated, i want to remind you both are on the PlayStation 3 and were not meant to be rivaled from the beginning. inFAMOUS is an exclusive but there is not reason to brag or yell on that. (we all know the phrase of "LOL PS3 HAS NO GAYMZ" but if that's your argument, well at least slip this one out) If you at the end don't care and keep your angst ignited, well shut up and suck my dick, please.
