Summer Recap: I set a high-score!
Moltar | 5:10 PM on 08.24.2008 5 comments

So summer’s almost over, I hope everyone made the most of it. I made the most of this summer, spending way too much money on holidays from money I’ve been saving all year.
First stop was Spain with a group of 6 guys. Things got off to a terrible start. Some funky cheese burger wiped out 3 of us, left us with some chronic ass-spewing for the whole week. We missed out on the clubs and the music festival and everything, it was awful. Being pretty much immobilised we spent all day playing on my GBA and the single game that I brought with me, Street Fighter Alpha 3.

I can safely say I can NEVER play that game again.
We spent all week trying to beat the Arcade mode on 8 star (the maximum) difficulty. It was frustrating, hurt my thumbs and numbed my mind. Did it in the end though…

After that I set off to the Orlando, Florida with family. My illness had faded so I enjoyed it, but the only game-related news I can bring is my exciting adventure in Disney Land. They have a massive arcade called Disney Quest and I completely proved my gaming chops in front of the family.
Not only did I whip a 10 year old kid at Soul Calibur 2, but I set a high-score! On…Robotron 2084! It was a truly beautiful day. I’ve never set a high-score in an arcade before. I saved it under the intial ‘J’, so if you ever use that machine have a look. See if anyone knocked me off. I can't remember what position I was in. It was right at the bottom, but someone else wanted to go on, and it was 3 weeks ago now.

Me on Robotron.

And a bit of Soul Calibur too.

I can also report that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 doesn’t allow the input ‘ASS’ on the high-score table. Tried to enter it and it changed it to ‘CAP’ after I entered. Spoil sports.

May also be worth noting that in the Epcot resort bit there is a Mr. Destructoid in the Japanese Tin Toy Exhibit, I swear!

Hope you all had a lovely summer. Now it’s time to prepare for University and Gears of War 2.

ASS is a shitty high score name, go with something classy like BUT or VAG

or sak

I always go with Vag. It is a testament to my high class upbringing.

Also, there are a bunch of fucking arcades in DW. Disney Quest is so outdated it was funny. Hardly worth my time going there, except to see my son whoop someone's ass at Soul Calibur II. I think the kid was like 17, and my son had just turned 5. Everyone was giving him high fives and shit. Good times.

Man, that trip to Spain sounds like absolute hell. I'm glad you're feeling better.

I can't imagine playing Street Fighter with the GBA's controls and trying to pull off shoryukens. Was all the skin rubbed off your thumbs?

Is "TIT" acceptable in high score leaderboards?

I wish I tried TIT now. ASS has always been my usual name. It's a bit uninspired, but you can't beat the classics.
