Hey there,

My name is Eric, and I'm a University student. I've been playing video games since I was just a little guy, and have always had a lot of fun following the good old Console War. Which brings me to why I'm here. I heard that Destructoid is a good place for sharing views, and all in all getting some insight into the mindset behind what's going on with gaming these days. For better or worse...

Now I've heard that I don't have the most main stream of opinions lol, go figure. So you may like what I have to say and you may not, but that's part of the fun right? Anyways, I'm looking forward to having some good debates with you all.

Will the 3DS announcement affect the DSiXL?

I'm sure you've all heard about the announcement yesterday morning that Nintendo is officially releasing their new handheld next year, with new 3D capabilities. With the announcement coming so close to the launch of the DSi XL, I'm wondering if anyone is second guessing a purchase? I can certainly see how the news of an entirely new handheld would make the launch of a rehash seem less appealing.

So is a year to far away to care, are those big screens to beautiful to ignore, has the 3DS just killed your buzz, or did you not give a damn about the DSi XL in the first place? Let me know!

The only thing the announcement will effect is fanboy fodder. And me wondering when Nintendo actually intends to support the DSi as a platform instead of treating it like some bastard stepchild worthy only previous games broken up into bite sized chunks.

Not that I'm bitter or anything...

It definitely will, why buy what is basically a dsi, which already sucks, when there's a better system coming out in a matter of months?

It sure will, I think. It was a mistake to announce this before the XL, but at the same time, I now know which one I'm getting. So good for me, I suppose.

The only people that would even have an opinion like that, an effect on the DSiXL, are reading this right now and have a DS Lite. Not 99% of the people the product is design for.
