Wow holy crap, good luck with trying to play all those games. The sad part is I've beaten almost all of those games, with a couple of exceptions.

Anyway, Star Fox Adventures is decent but it wasn't my cup o' tea. Primal is an alright game as well, and I dug the whole gothic/horror style of some of the levels. Fallout is a really good game, but I thought Fallout 2 was better. Overall, some pretty good choices but like I said good luck with trying to play them all, hah.

I forgot to mention that this is also helping me decide if I should buy a 360 or a Wii first. I don't own either but I will pick at least one, if not both of them, up by summer.

Oh and while Silent Hill 2 was really good, I thought 3 was better when it came to really screwing with your mind.

Yea, I'm currently in the transition of becoming a slightly more than casual to hardcore gamer. I've always played games. Just not good ones. I've always loved games. Just mostly watched them played and wished I had money.

Well, I JUST started playing Bioshock. I'm loving it. God of War 1 & 2 is a must too. Half Life is also a must. Mario Kart64. Super Paper Mario and Yoshi Story.

I can tell you that Yoshi Story is like 5 levels long so that would go by very fast.

Get a 360 first, then a Wii. If finances are low, Wii first, then a 360.

Don't completely count out the PS3 though, it looks like a big year ahead for it.

I used to be a really hardcore gamer when I was younger, but like most of hardcore gamers around here I've been playing less and less games but I'm starting to get back into rhythm. Old school games do have a soft spot in my heart though, like the games you have listed such as Vagrant Story, Fallout, and Max Payne.

That there is one helluva list, and i think i might have played more than half of it. They're all pretty good games, but i don't know bout Hamtaro and Primal.

As much as I detest the PS3 (personal grudge, it killed my mother) I don't want to rule out getting one. My drive to own one/amount of money I have ratio will just never allow it.

I'm sorry to hear that the PS3 took your mother's life (was she using it as a grill and got blu-ray poisoning?).

Personally, I was kind of brushing off the PS3 until I heard Disgaea 3 and Valkyrie of the Battlefield were going to be released for it. I might as well take the gamble if it's going to have a golden age of great games like the PS2.

You've already got quite a few of the suggestions I'd have made on your list. Good on ya! If you've got a Dreamcast, a Ps2, or a 360, pick up Rez. It's not very long, and maybe it's not your sort of game, but I sat in the dark with the volume cranked up and played that game for hours. Have you played Resident Evil 4 yet? Some fans of the series foam at the mouth when they think about the huge leap away from the other games in the series, but I really enjoyed RE4.

Shadow of the Colossus is an amazing game. You know how when a cutscene plays and you watch your character do things you can't possibly control them into doing? The entire game gives you that feeling of awe, except you're in control at all times.

If you've got a Wii I really recommend Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The online play is broken, but there's so much stuff to do single player it hardly matters. It's an amazingly fun game to play with a friend, and in my opinion you haven't lived until you've killed a guy by throwing him through a mountain.

I love Rez and am currently trying to find a Trance Vibrator. Preferrably not used. (Awkward look) Just got a copy of Resident Evil 4 but haven't started playing it yet.

@WiiSucks
There is no hate. I just sleep like a normal person this semester so that I can get off of academic probation. And I am greatly interested in finding the first Half-Life.

I played half of Indigo Prophecy (I would rather have Fahrenheit because I'm missing nipples) but then it just got too god damn ridiculous. I'm willing to give it another try though, if enough people tell me it's good. (My boyfriend hates it and has tried to prevent me from replaying it.)

Here's a few games you can knock off your list:
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest - This game came out before developers knew what gameplay was. This is kinda like the Lost Levels of the Castlevania series. Things don't make sense, townspeople lie about what you have to do, and the translation hinders what you have to do next. If you like reading from Gamefaqs a lot, by all means play it.
Chrono Cross - Hardly a sequel to Chrono Trigger.
Dynasty Warriors series - You don't even need to turn on your PS2 for this experience. Just hit a button rapidly and you'll get the experience. If you really want to play a Dynasty Warriors game, just play one. They're all the same.
Final Fantasy VII - Don't listen to the fanatics... this game hasn't aged well. But, it is a pretty important part of gaming history, so play it with expectations in check. Or just get Final Fantasy VI (Released as Final Fantasy III in the US for Super NES).
Hitman - Not sure you need to play all of these. I'd probably stick with the third game.
Jet Set Radio Future - Stick with Jet Grind Radio. It's the better game.
Max Payne - Never played the sequel, but stay away from the first game. It's utter shit.
Mega Man Battle Network - Really? Play Mega Man 2 instead.
NiGHTS - This game was fun... in 1996. There are many other 3D platformers that have aged better... like Bubsy 3D
Ratchet & Clank series - Not too familiar with this series as I am with other games on this list, but I think if you played one, you played them all. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 - The first game is decent, the second game is unwiped butt.
Star Fox Adventures - An alternative to playing this game: throw a bunch of change in your backyard and try to find it all. At least you'll get fresh air.
Street Fighter Series - SF 2 Turbo, SF Alpha 2, and SF 3 Third Strike are the only ones you need to worry about.
Yoshi's Story - NO! BAD! THAT'S VERY BAD! We do that outside!

If there's one game on that list that is required playing, it's Super Mario Bros. How you have made it this far in life without playing it is a mystery.

I can oddly defend most of those but I am lazy. >_>

And I want to make a clarification: if I put down series, that pretty much means that I just don't know which titles in that series are good so I just generalized it. I probably intend to just play one so that I get the idea.

And again, I know some of these suck but I just need/want to experience them.

Actually if youve played half way through then its pob ok to leave it. The experience of it is good. The ending however...is shit. Anti-climax much?! Eternal Darkness however...is a must. It says you have a gamecube and you dont have this game? You need this game. Also I know were not meant to be adding to the list but have you played Pikmin? So fun...im on the hunt for the second one.

"Ratchet & Clank series - Not too familiar with this series as I am with other games on this list, but I think if you played one, you played them all. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong."

Ratchet and Clank's gameplay is formulaic, yes, and with that in mind all of the games are pretty much more of the same, but that's perfectly ok because they're honest to goodness FUN. The game is cartoony and never takes itself too seriously, and it's never dull finding new ways to blow up baddies. You can probably find the first game dirt cheap nowadays, I highly recommend you do.

Mega Man Battle Network FTW. Everybody hates on it just cause it's a spin-off and nothing like actual Mega Man games, aside from making references to the main series. If you took the games, took out all the Mega Man characters, and replaced them with original characters, I bet the games would be much more well-received.

It got stupid after the first three, but it was really good while it lasted. I like playing RPGs with enjoyable combat rather than that usual turn-based crap that's been going on for years. I actually didn't mind the random battles in MMBN as much as I do in most games, because the combat was actually fun.

I'll suggest more games for your list when I'm not so tired. -_-

I wouldn't really listen to the "this sucks/this is the greatest thing ever" lists too much. You're going to play what you're going to play. I would recommend though that you start with games that are on older systems first such as the Genesis, PS1, etc because they're probably going to be cheaper for you to buy, especially if you order them online. On your choice of systems I would agree with SourG8pes and go for the 360 first if you can afford it. It has a larger catalog of new games and can for the most part play any X-box games you would want. The Wii has all the replay value for Gamecube games but at this very moment it's new games are lacking numbers, although they are very fun when you find a good one. Really just follow you're gut and take you're time. I'm currently trying to play through a bunch of games that have backlogged but I'm just going at it slowly and getting through them that way. No matter what way you go about it you know you're going to have fun at least right? And >.> sorry for the long reply.

Play that now, especially since the series is so cheap and the new one is coming in a few weeks. It's so addicting, the dialogue is hilarious, the characters are well developed, and it's just fun and simple. I guarantee you will like it :)

And also, I'm not too worried about older games since I can NOT emulate them on my PSP. <_<

I've read so many ignorant opinions on this post I can barely fathom it all.
Someone calling Half Life overrated has got to take the cake.
I think someone even said FF7 sucks?
Sigh.
Don't dare listen to that stormtrooper head man either.
His list of games which suck could barely be more wrong.
Chu Chu Rocket is a classic.
So is Ape Escape.
Chrono Cross has one of the best soundtracks and atmosphere of any RPG.
Elebits is fun.
The entire Monkey Island series is universally hailed (except by noobs) as one of the greatest of all time.
NiGHTS is completely amazing. Assuming you have a Saturn?
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are mildly entertaining and deserve to be played.
Taiko Drum Master, obviously sweet.
