I love my PSP. Not for PSP games, but for NOT emulators. I get more play out of it currently than any other system/handheld I own right now, mostly because I'm always on the go. (Wish I had a portable Dreamcast. Someone should get working on a NOT emulator for that...)
So I decided to pimp my PSP out. I think skins are lame and I kinda wanted to crack open my PSP to get a look at its bits so I decided to get a faceplate.
A shiny red faceplate.
.......................
THIS IS NOT A FUCKING SHINY METALLIC RED FACEPLATE!
This has got to be some kind of sick joke. I mean, they don't even offer this product on their site!
I ordered a red faceplate off of eBay for only 99 cents (and $10 shipping and handling >_>) from some random Hong Konganese (apparently they are no longer considered a part of China) distributor. It took about two weeks to get here. I opened it a literally almost cried.
It's not that I'm anti-pink. Pink can be okay. I wouldn't want a pink anything video game related, but if it would have been any other shade, any other color, I would have been okay. So I e-mailed them with a picture of what had been sent and even a link to the product I had bought (it even had fucking pictures of a red faceplate so it wasn't like, "Oh, maybe red is the same thing as pink in fucking China.") No response. E-mailed them again with no file attachment. No response. So I guess I'm out about $16.
I learned my lesson though, and I'm thinking about adding a cute lil panda or a strawberry or something to this current faceplate and reselling it or something for like $15 since faceplates are normally $10. Anyone interested?
Hahaha nice 2 stupid dogs reference! Sorry bout your luck.
I was wondering if someone would catch the reference or not.
Yea. I'll probably just try to buy another one.
Needs more Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole.
two stupid dogs is awesome.
i'd say... keep the pink face plate.
you could just try painting it yourself. Its not that hard to paint a faceplate.
hong kong, although part of china, was relatively recently given back to the chinese government by the british who used to have control over it. The chinese government did not want to radically change hong kong's style of market economy for various reasons. That is why you'll see hong kong prices usually in british pounds. I'm sure the UK residents of this site can tell you more (and probably hong kong residents if dtoid has any commenters from there).
If you don't have any luck selling it, clean it up, buy your favorite color red spraypaint and give it a shot. You said you might be out $16 anyway, toss in $2 more and see if you can get something you like. Or if you have any artistic friends with an airbrush toss it their way and see what they can do with it. Get something 1 off that no one else has.
<3 2 Stupid Dogs
Sorry you had to learn that about ebay the hard way =(. Anyway, I think you should try what Corak said, I spray painted my old Xbox controllers with a silver color and they looked awesome, still do.
At least you learned not to trust Ebay on the cheap, I found myself at a loss of 80 dollars. All the same, sorry you got gipped.
Miss, your coolness points shot through the roof with the 2 Stupid Dogs joke.
Love 2 Stupid Dogs. MissHinasaki, you are indeed awesome.
And sorry to hear about your bad experience. If you really want a red PSP, you can trade in your current one for the GoW PSP bundle coming out. Or spray paint it.
Metallic red PSP faceplate. Should be in the mail by this weekend. If this one is a fail, I quit.
And 2 Stupid Dogs is awesome. (Statement said while wearing retro-goggles so I can't be held accountable for that.)
Wait, you got it off eBay? I thought you at least got it from an actual website. D:
I think MrJunko is on the right track with painting it. Why the hell didn't I think of that? You'd probably have trouble not painting over the PSP logo, but I think you could make something pretty neat out of the pink one. You could always let me paint it, too. >_>
Oh, and 2 Stupid Dogs is still awesome.
holy crap someone still remembers 2 stupid dogs.
hmm...you know, this is why i'm glad I imported my PSP. Even if it is the phatass model, it's azure blue and it's fuckin sexy every time I bring it out the house and play it in public.
but also....you should know not to really trust many things coming out of Hong Kong to begin with.
the spray paint would probably end up being scratched off in places, since it's a portable.
I like the cute strawberry or panda idea, myself. But I like cute things.
Well I'll obviously put a sealant on it so that the paint doesn't wear off, because the same thing could happen with the strawberry/panda, so either way, it'll be okay.
Report it to eBay, leave negative feedback, and keep firing off angry emails.
Also, you should fire off an email to WiiSucks for an easy $16.
Leave it to china to screw up over e-bay, well all you can do is kep expressing your anger, and maybe buy a red face plate from a store where you can actually see the face plate. Less disapointment.
