Slashing Meteos (About Me, Not Completely VGR)
Meteoslasher | 12:54 AM on 06.28.2009 4 comments

I just wanted to take some time to introduce myself. My name is John and I currently reside in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Most of my childhood was spent in or around Winchester, Virginia which is not to far from here (roughly 15 miles). At the moment, I'm driving a fork truck for a living. It sucks, but it's a decent job for a decent employer until I figure out what the hell I want to do with my life.

Now, to more important issues. I've been gaming for about 20 years now. My parents bought a NES when I was four or five years old and I've been hooked ever since. My NES experience was nice, but my memories of going to the Arcade blew those away. It was there that I got to play games like Art of Fighting, Street Fighter II, Final Fight, Virtua Fighter... games that really stuck to me. To this day, I enjoy fighting games.

My other favorite genre is Role-Playing. My first experience with those came in 1995, when a friend let me borrow Chrono Trigger. I didn't know what to expect, but the screen caps in Nintendo Power looked great, so I wanted to play it. That game rocked me hard. I couldn't believe a game could have such a great story. I immediately rented Final Fantasy VI (Which was Final Fantasy III in those days) and it had an even better storyline (to me, anyway). These days, I'll still check out the occasional RPG. I mostly find myself playing remakes or replaying PSX RPGs.

Though I mainly focus on two genres, I'll play anything that seems like it's worth my attention. I'm not really much of a First-Person Shooter fan, but there are games like Half-Life 2, Bioshock and Red Faction that really caught my attention. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'll play it if it doesn't look shitty (though, I have been badly deceived many times).

As far as the hardware goes, I have a PS2 and a PSP. I still have many titles to play on those consoles. I used to have a XBox 360, but sold it to a friend shortly after. I'll probably get another one when I manage to get a HDTV. I also have a Gamecube, but the only game I have for it is Mega Man Anniversary Collection (which, I should have got for PS2 due to the control scheme).

I have a few other interests. Most of them could be described as habits really. I like watching Pro-Wrestling (TNA). I grew up watching WCW and TNA seems to remind me of those days. I try not to get too hardcore about it. I also enjoy the thought of doing something nice for my house, but the money is always being spent on other garbage. I'll get around to it someday, once I manage to pay my stupid debt.

That's all that you really need to know about me. I'm not quite sure where I want to go with this blog, but I'll find a direction soon enough.

 about me

How's it going? I'm John. I'm 24 years old and I live in Berkeley Springs, WV. I work as a fork truck jockey in a giant freezer. It's not necessarily my dream job, but it'll keep me going until I decide on what I want to do in the future.

My favorite game genres are Fighting and Role-Playing. I'll honestly play anything from any genre, as long as it is good. I usually play games on my PS2 and PSP. I've dabbled a bit in the newer consoles, but never found a reason to keep them. I still have quite a bit to play on my PS2.

Favorite Games
The King of Fighters '96
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Shadow Hearts Covenant
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Garou: Mark of the Wolves

Currently Playing
Final Fantasy VII - I plan on posting a blog about it when I'm finished. This is the first time I've played the game since 1998. I can't believe it's been about 12 years since its release.
