Playtesting at Gearbox next week.
Menelaus | 4:46 PM on 12.08.2008 7 comments

Just got an email inviting me to make the short drive to Plano to join a Gearbox Software playtesting session next week. Of course the sessions are in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day. No problem, I sent in my notice to my boss that I'd be taking a half day the moment I saw the email.

God, I hope we get to play Borderlands. Even if it's something totally crappy, just spending the afternoon at a game development house will be awesome.

Have any of you gotten the chance to do this before with a dev house?

OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE

Yes, you do get to play Borderlands.

I was talking to them about it and they decided I can't do it cause I "work" for Dtoid. But they did say how the majority of the public testings will be for Borderlands...probably cause they realize majority of people would want to play Aliens.

Fuck Borderlands, I hope you play Aliens.

Good luck buddy.

focus group testing for the win. It's good times. I've been one of the guys on the other side of the glass on a few of these and it helps marketing and development quite a bit, provided the group gives well thought out feedback.

I hate you so much right now.

If you played Aliens I would want to know EVERYTHING I CAN KNOW! But I understand, cause they're definitely going to tell you to not say anything about ANYTHING. :(

Gearbox is making Borderlands ? COOL! Maybe when it comes out they'll drop the price of the game to 19.99 in a month's time like they did their latest Brothers in Arms.

I playtested for the now dead Stainless Steel Studios when they were working on Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, before Midway destroyed them, took their shitty old build and released a terrible version of the game.

It was awesome. They had a dev stand behind you while you played and took note of all your reactions, when you made them and why.

Enjoy the playtest man. :)

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
