Well, as for me, I like a little variety, I suppose. The first time I played Halo, I was still frequently playing Counter-Strike with my mates on the PC. There was something fresh about not having to play in teams, not having set up bombs, not having to buy weapons or anything. There was a lot of choice, really. With each new title, there was more to do. Like, in Halo 3, if someone was coming at you with a Ghost, you could drop a Grav Lift or Energy Drain if you had either. Now, you could perform an Armor Lock, boost up with a jetpack, or it could have been your hologram. I tried Call of Duty with my friends but it was very dull. Maybe you should make a list of why you don't like it. But yeah, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.
I only hate Reach because no matter what I do I suck at it. It's only redeemable feature for me at this point is playing with friends.
I feel the same way, I just don't understand all this Halo stuff. I guess when you have toys, books and everyone gamer and non-gamer knows what Halo is, it's a part of pop culture, its a sure bet for fun and enjoyment as well as conversation etc, i mean everyones played and accepted Halo right? Not everyone has played persona 3.
it is and has been great because like you said. It is a solid first person shooter. Actually it is extremely solid. You could ask what is the big deal of Starcraft and you got the same answer.
Basically the game is well balanced, easy and fun to jump in, tough to master. It is always supported post launch by Bungie. They fix bugs, make additions, ban griefers etc.
Many solid first person shooters can come out and say "oh Halo Killer" but then they dont support the game. (Far Cry 2, Bad Company 2, Killzone etc) It ends up being buggy, they dont fix/update the game and the developers moved on to the next game already.
It would be an endless and stupid argument, but Halo Reach and Team Fortress 2 are probably the most polished online shooters on the market. (upcoming Blackops will make it top 3).
