XBox 360 vs. PS3 side-by-side graphics comparisons all flawed?

We've all seen the 360/PS3 side-by-side gameplay comparisons, put together in an effort to harness the world's only truly inexhaustible resource: fanboy graphics wars. But were those videos accurate?

I watched the GameSpot and GameTrailers comparisons, and noted the tendency of the PS3 to wash out certain scenes, presenting a generally lower-contrast image. The video below claims that by making two changes in the PS3's settings menu, you can eliminate this phenomenon.

Enable RGB Full Range, and turn on Super-White

Since this YouTube video isn't the best quality, I'm curious as to whether anyone else can verify if this eliminates the visual difference between the two. I don't have either system, but I'm going to pick one up today with my Christmas loot (if it stops snowing), and am curious as to your thoughts.

It's impossible to tell from the YouTube video, but I'm sure it's possible. Either way, regardless of the RGB mode, I think some people prefer the color palette of one of the consoles over the other one.

I think side-by-side comparisons were just invented to flame fanboy wars. Just buy the fucking game for the console you want already.

As far as graphics goes, I don't really care because I don't own a PS3 and small graphical improvements in Burnout Paradise isn't going to get me to rush to the store and buy it. The only thing that might get me to buy it is Gran Turismo. Provided that I get something other than graphics than Forza Motorsports 3 has to offer.

You shouldn't worry too much about graphics anyways. Whatever system you prefer, get it. I don't think you're going to get someone to verify this. Not many people own two consoles or have two HDTVs to test this. You can't really trust PIP.

I think they're always flawed. I never bother watching those anymore. Even after "fixing" the PS3 issue they are still flawed.

@vexed alex: Looks like a 360. I was sorely tempted by the Blu-rays of the PS3, but the larger install base and more comprehensive online community of the 360 won out. Now if that sucker RRODs...

I'm making sure to get a 175W Falcon 360, so it had better be reliable.

Oh MaxVest, how I envy your Wii60. Maybe someday I'll be able join you in a real online game instead of just vandalizing your Animal Crossing town like I do now.
