Hey hey everyone. I don't even know who reads this, but you guys usually comment, which is kickass because it makes me feel less like I'm talking to myself over the internet while sitting alone in my room in my underpants.

Anyway. I started co-hosting The Destructoid Show, as you can see HERE. Video went up after I went to bed last night, so this morning -- at 4:30, when I woke up because my day job is an exercise in cruelty -- I ran to the computer like a kid running to open presents on Christmas. And then, you know, I read the comments on YouTube, which were YouTubish. And then I was in a bad mood until I listened to "Eye Of The Tiger" and "Push It To The Limit" a few times and smoked a cigarette. I hate mornings anyway.

A few hours later, Twitter user Flintsci tweeted at me, "ignore the youtube comments. this is like Internet 101. nothing good ever comes from reading them on any video." And I immediately felt stupid, because he was totally right, and I already knew that. Putting things into perspective, I got off easy. Nobody called me anything particularly mean. There was lots of positive feedback, but at five in the morning, it's easy to take things to heart.

Obviously, people are pissed I'm taking over for Holmes, but, uh. I am. So I don't know what to say.

Wait, yes I do:

If The Destructoid Show is your Mom, and Holmes is your Dad, then I'm basically your Mom's new boyfriend. I'm not trying to replace your father, but I love your mother dearly, and she'd be a lot happier if everyone got along. I don't expect you to call me "dad," but it'd be cool if you got to know me a little better before screaming "You're not my father," slamming your bedroom door, and playing Papa Roach really loud.

(If The Dtoid Show is your mom, and Holmes is your dad, I don't know who Tara would be, and trying to factor her into this just gets all kinds of fucked-up in ways that would make Freud's head explode. But Tara's really cool and everyone has a crush on her, so that's not really an issue.)

Anyway. I'm tired and should probably make a sandwich or start doing research for tomorrow's episode or something, but here are some idiotic Photoshops I've done for no reason whatsoever that will probably be appreciated by Dtoid community members.

Hamza said I was gay for making that, but I've never worn a hat that stupid, so he can shut up.

I sent out a friendly holiday email to the entire Dtoid family email list, and Jim Sterling said something like, "Oh, great. Another email thread where I have to be nice." So I made that.

Yesterday, after we shot the show show, Zac Minor (the show's producer) took a bunch of cutesy photos of me and Tara for some reason. A few hours later he sent us that.

...And I replied with that because I'm obnoxious.

So there you have it. Cool story bro. lol ya inorite?

Your head looks fucking gigantic.
That picture of Hamza made me so happy. He looks like a stud in the second part.

Anyways, I thought you were awesome on the show. People are idiots, they don't know what they're talking about. Keep up the great work!
My head IS gigantic and Hamza IS a stud.
Don't worry, all of those YouTube commenters are a bunch of dumb Holmes fanboys. Holmes was great, and so are you, so don't let them get you down. I've actually been waiting and wishing for you to get a permanent spot on the show ever since you stepped in for Tara during Blizzcon. To be honest, I think you have the potential to be even greater than Holmes (don't tell him I said that!).

PS: I recently got an interesting piece of news. The ballistic dildo kiosk I mentioned on Twitter is hiring! If I get you a job there, could you work me into the show somehow?
Hahaha. I really liked the pics. I haven't seen the newest episode of the show yet, but that one time you guest hosted you did just fine. I'll miss Holmes, but you're more than qualified to step in.
Haha! I'll give you another chance, for sure.
K I watched the episode. I liked your segues. They kind of reminded me of Brad Nicholson and his ability (or lack thereof) to do segues.
Remember the comments we got on our first episode? It sucks, but expect a ramp-up period. People went from saying they hated "the bald guy" to wanting him to be inside of them. Give it a month, and you'll have more propositions for gay sex than you'll know what to do with.
I HAVE SOMETHING TO STARE AT NOW THAT AREN'T HOLMES BOOB!

Max's cancer curing smile :D

(Wat, u thought I was gon to look at Tara's boobs? Pshh. I keep it classy)
Welcome to the show!

Why did Holmes leave it, anyway? I feel like I missed something.
I love reading your blogs... but the new Dtoid emphasis on video stuff I'm just not feeling it.... yet. I'm glad you haven't totally abandoned writing... and photoshop! :)
This was random and interesting. Nachos!
I wish Newport in Wales looked like that.

Sadly...

I still want Holmes inside me. Perhaps one day.....
I haven't really been watching The Show because I share Elsa's sentiments on putting an emphasis on video segments. There's very, very few editorial pieces being written on the site lately. There hasn't been too much focus on the community lately either, but I'm not blaming the staff entirely considering the community itself could be more together.

That said, the one time I watched The Show and you were on it, you really helped spice things up a lot. You gots my support.
Max, you're funnier and better looking than Holmes, so I'm excited about the show again. Not that I have anything against him; I just prefer you for this job.
Max, you're funnier and better looking than Holmes. I am excited to watch the show again. I have nothing against Holmes, of course; I just like you better for this job.
Holmes was great and I loved him on the show. Now you are a different kind of great. Different is good. Great even. Period of adjustment and all that which is fine. Everyone takes a moment to get their bearings, take a deep breath, relax and come into their own.

The comments on youtube...well, human garbage is everywhere. Ignore it or if you have shadow magic hand, tear their eyes out. You keep doing what you do and having fun. When I can tell you two are having fun, I smile as well. Also, appreciate the c-blogs. I love to see this kind of interaction. Makes my grey deer heart swell.

We think you are super keen Max.

Super keen.
Wry Guy: COmmunity cohesion fix INCOMING
Kind of going with what Elsa and WryGuy said... really not a fan of video content. At least not the dtoid show and dtoid live video content. Especially when it's so scripted and is really just a rehash of the stuff I've already read on the front page. I've warmed up to the show more and more, but like I said it's still just a rehash of stuff I already read that day or the day before. I really don't care if I miss it. The emphasis on live stuff also isn't something I care about, even if I could/did make the time to watch it everyday. Even more so when it's just watching you guys playing video games that even you seem barely interested in.

Also your head doesn't bob around more than the dtoid bobblehead when you talk, so Hamza can suck it.
Is Hamza Jeff Goldblum's long lost brother?
oh also [insert joke about Max and John Cusack]
What Occams said.
Dear Max Scoville,

I watch the Destructoid Show irregularly, and I thought Holmes and Tara were incredibly awkward for much of the early goings. Their jokes didn't fly, the delivery was off, and like many have said, it was more rehash material. I remember the (one?) episode you came on as Tara's replacement and I thought you did fantastic on it. Your delivery and one-liners worked a lot better than anything previously.

When I heard you were going to be on the show I thought "hey cool, that guy was pretty smooth last time." I get the feeling the comments about you taking over for Holmes must have gotten to you because I noticed the whole "arm flailing thing" at the beginning. I think you should just give it some time, and don't worry about trying to fill Holmes shoes, because I've seen you were funny without the pressure on. Holmes shtick was his shtick, and you've got your own thing which works.

Holmes is amazing at floor show coverage during E3 and interviewing people (Much better than that Rey guy that used to do it, he was terrible). So he should definitely keep doing that, and you just have to relax and do fine with this show. You can do it! Positivity! Strength and manliness!

Your hosting is the hosting that will pierce the heavens,

I laughed hysterically at the Newport 'shop. It's so perfect.
@Wry Guy
There's very, very few editorial pieces being written on the site lately.

Are you on the same Destructoid I am? Pretty much everything Sterling posts about (since he posts seemingly over half the stuff on this site now) is either an editorial or he injects his own editorials/opinions into other articles. This is also why Chester and North are the best writers on this site in my opinion, they don't do that crap.
Haha I laughed so hard at the Hamza photos ;D Great metaphor for your inclusion in the dtoid show , I think you handled it great :P And as you say , you have to factor in that itīs the internetz after all , the thing that brought us stuff like lollazers and catīs in fabulous hats. That pack of smokes looks crummy ;D I wouldnīt smoke it , also your drarwrings are nice, I love the creepy self portrait it somehow reminds me of the art from silent hill shattered memories ! Consider yourself stalked on flickr.
also wangs
That Christmas Carol shoop makes me all kinds of happy in ways that I can't explain.
Someone needs to make a "Stop, Hamza time!" MC Hammer-esque, poster stat! Also, Max, I think you're a fine replacement for Holmes. The only thing I'm really going to miss are Holme's intros. Those were a thing of fucking beauty. Now, if you had been replacing Tara on the other hand... heads would have rolled son. FUCKING ROLLED.

But congrats!
Max, I remember the days we were in The Oakleaf Newspaper, and I was all fat and passive aggressive, and now we are friends and now I want to see you because I miss all of you guys.

tears all around.

Let's get a drink.

Relax and have fun with it, Max. That's the point, isn't it? If you're not having fun, neither are we. Holmes is amazing in ways that only Holmes can be. With a little time for adjustment, I think the show will hit it's stride again. I remember Holmes first show and he looked nervous as hell. LOL Anyways, keep up the good work and KEEP posting blogs. The interaction between the readers and the writers is part of what makes Dtoid magical.
