I heard about Retro Game Challenge (aka GameCenter CX: Arino no Chōsenjō) a while back in April when it was on a Gamespot list of recommended Japanese import games. (see below video)
3:43-End
I was very interested back then, but they said that it had no chance of coming out in the U.S. due to it being too niche of a title.
Well, today, in wake of Mega Man 9 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed, I read on GiantBomb.com that it got picked up by XSEED Games for U.S. distribution and will be released on February 10th 2009 (next month).
-about the game- The game centers around some kids that get sent back in time by the Gaming Demon "Arino" (aka, the Doctor head from Brain Age), and in order for them to get back to their own time they have to play Famicom (NES) games. The games that the kids play seem to be original (new games), made specifically for the title. Most of games do however seem to be imitations (if not rip-offs) of some old classics (Galaga, Dragon Quest, Ninja Gaiden). There is also some fake magazines in the game that the kids can read to get game tips. I don't think it will be anything like a full Nintendo Power, but it seems pretty cool that they put that in there.
So, is anyone else out there as stoked about this as I am?
