Update: How do you call a Vampire, a Werewolf and a Zombie?
Master Foot | 9:25 AM on 10.07.2007 11 comments

Sounds like the start of a joke, I know, but I'm not kidding. Vampires and werewolves reproduce by 'infecting' people, for lack of a better word. I need to know for a project I'm working on how do you call a creature like that. I've looked for weeks and found bubkes. any ideas?

Update: to be clear, I'm searching for information about creatures that reproduce this way. I'm not looking for a name to call them, I'm looking for the name they are known for. If you know about a creature that fits my description, please tell me in the comments.

Thank you.

I don't call them at all. All of my Vampire and Werewolf friends are on AIM.

A virus? Viruses work by either turning cells into virus factories or into small virus bombs that explode and release more viruses.

I would think you'd call them 'The Infected'

or 'a carrier' or something like that... (if I'm understanding you right)

They're still people like you and me.

I honestly don't know if there is an all encompassing word for mythological creatures that 'reproduce' by infecting others. Start with something along the basic lines of virus or bacteria and just make something up.

I think Kyttie is probably right.

Therianthropic sentient(?) beings, originally of human form but "infected" through a form of [url=http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define%3A+contagion]contagion]

I don't think there is a single word.

Sory for poor formatting, you get the point.

"Monster."

I don't think you can combine them, since zombies are dead and vampires never die.

I'm looking for creatures who turn humans into creatures like them, the same way a vampire can turn a person into a vampire. I'm not looking how to name them, I'm looking for more creatures like that. I don't care if they fly, swim or crawl, as long as they turn humans into creatures like them.
