Anyway, you guys just keep on giving. Give give give give give. I think it's time you know just how much you're appreciated and just how important you are to me.
Destructoid, you guys made it on The Wall. Well done.
That picture up there? That's my bedroom wall. It's reserved only for things I truly care about. Things that I want to wake up and see every day. Things that make me smile. These are limited mostly to: 1) drawings of mine that took a lot of effort, and 2) posters of games I love. Well, I just got this crazy idea to rip some of that crap down and put you guys up there.
I have no idea why I used a Gilligan's Island font. It just looked good.
So, let's start with the avatar adoption thing. That's what this whole idea spawned out of, after all. I really appreciate all you guys taking the time to get a picture with my avatar (as well as the five others grouped with it), and I really have to thank Andy for adopting me in the first place.
Now, I'm not crazy. Trust me on this. I put up those pictures on my wall so I can see them whenever I'm in my room. I also gave some of them titles and drew a little doodle under them. Wall of pictures incoming!
So, I don't know if you guys know this, but Destructoid is the highlight of my day. Seriously. I have 99 problems, but only two things in the world make me feel completely at peace. My work study at college (because helping people makes you forget your own troubles and makes you feel good), and coming to Destructoid, whether it just be browsing the articles, posting in the comments, or leafing through the forum.
You guys feel like a second family to me. You were there for me when I made that blog a while back venting, you're always willing to share a laugh, and you guys are some of the most friendly and accepting people I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. Words escape me. I mean, what can I say?
Destructoid, you are the light of my life. And for that, I couldn't just stop at putting up pictures of the avatar adoption. So I went a step further.
So, as you can see, this kind of spiraled out of control. It took forever to do all this. But that's OK. I'm glad I did this.
Just seeing pictures of you guys makes me smile. It makes me happy. Whether it be you, in actuality, or your avatar. You guys don't just have any place on my wall. You have the spot right next to my bed, where I lay my head down at night. It's also where I work on my homework/study and do most of my stressing out and stuff.
You guys have the spot on my wall where I'm going to need you most. When I feel like the world is crashing down around me, I can always turn to these pictures and smile. Feel the warmth creep through my every fiber, knowing that, even if the world actually does come crashing down, at least I got the chance to know you all.
My only regret in all my time here on Destructoid has been today, and that is the fact that I can't put all of you on my wall. As much as I want to, I don't think my printer will allow it.
So, hopefully now you got a glimpse into how much you all mean to me, and how much Destructoid means to me. It's not just another videogame blog website. You all know that. It's a community. It's a family. And I swear that someday I'll make it to PAX and get the chance to enjoy all of your company in person, even if it kills me.
Destructoid, thank you. Don't change. And don't you ever leave me.
