So was this Fourth of Julah amazing, or SO amazing? Well, it certainly is a kick in the groin to hear one of your favorite quarterbacks, who just ended his career with your favorite team, just died. Throw in some Independence Day+Will Smiff, though, it's been a pretty decent day.

So speaking of amazing: the blogs. I noticed that quite a few new bloggers have come around recently, and that's awesome. For every
user that spams WoW content from another website,
there's some other guy who is extremely passionate about the game, and loves to talk about it with others. There are new awesome people migrating in
nearly every
single day
of the week.
There are still some stinkers around, though. Do yourself a favor and spam
this guy's Xbox Live inbox with "stop ruining Destructoid!" I've already whinged about it enough, but if you want to know why,
feel free.
Maybe I care too much and these spammers aren't hurting the blogs as much as I complain that they are? If anyone's ever seen
Curb Your Enthusiasm, you'll know how I feel. Often, I can't ignore it when someone is exploiting a system, or just being despicable I've seen a lot of people get upset over it, but I'm done getting fired up over it, and hopefully it'll run it's course (bans). What I really don't get is why they do it the way they do it: it's so subversive.
That WoW spammer hides links to www.ignworld.com inside random sentences, just for the hits. If he came out and said "I write for www.ignworld.com, can you guys visit it", I would LOVE THAT. If the Examiners would comment once and say "look, we're trying to make a living, it's hard, and thanks a lot guys for visiting our articles", I would ADMIRE that.
Protip for "professional" spammers: you'd have less of a chance of being banned if you didn't treat this website as a garbage dump!
Oh well, there's too much to do, and too many amazing members to chat with. Too many people to play
Blazblue wi...wait...I don't have it yet.
/end rant
If you're wondering if the amazing fireworks above were actually THAT amazing: they didn't quite live up to the 4th of July article posted today, but Chad would have been proud.
<3 Dtoid. Even if I'm disappointed with the lack of drunk blogs tonight. AMURICA
Yeah it's a real blow to see your own and other people's c-blogs that they've poured significant amounts of time and effort into bumped down the page quickly within a few hours and hidden away and read by very few people due to spammers from other Websites and failbloggers.
Magnalon, you say it annoys you that spam blogs push down quality cblogs, yet you love drunk blogs. Most drunk blogs have no point, and thus are the same as spam so how can you be against one and not the other?
(I'm not flaming or anything I'm just interested in your opinion, since you're one of the not-so-many bloggers whose opinion I value)
Drunk blogs are usually more fail than anything else. Usually, not always. It's like watching a 15 year old after one beer saying: "Look at me! I'm soooooo drunk!".
Drunk video's on the other hand would be awesome. Get to it!
It's a shame really you can't get drunk from Coke. Or smokes. Oh well, you can't have it all.
The sheriff has spoken people. I would listen to what he says!
For what my opinion's worth, I totally fucking agree about the spammers and don't think you're over-reacting at all. I'm personally disappointed that CTZ hasn't banned the fuck out of them by now, as the offenders are well known. It's bullshit that real blogs get pushed down for this shit. I've actually been reluctant to do any blogging due to some of the awesome blogs real members put out, but then I see all of these parasites jump in and it irks the fuck out of me. The Cblogs are really going to turn to shit quickly if they don't nip this in the bud and more leeches feel safe to jump in. In my opinion, if I never see the person commenting on the site, then I don't care to read their shit as it doesn't come from sense of community, just selfishness. The community aspects are the only reason that I joined this site. I don't tweet, I don't have a Facebook, I just don't give a shit to waste time on that stuff. But I wanted to finally be a part of Dtoid, and this shit is an affront to what Dtoid stands/stood for to me.
Also, I prefer drunk comments to drunk blogs; Qraze was on fire last night XD
@Justice
Drunk blogs usually come from long term members, and are pretty hilarious. I wasn't 100% serious when I said I absolutely love them without question, but I don't get worked up over them.
I'm not a huge hater of failblogs in general as much as I am spam. Failbloggers can be fixed, or told they fail, and can adjust accordingly. Advertising machines cannot. Plus, if a member is bored and thinks it's funny to post (usually the case with drunk blogs), I don't mind it really.
@Silver
This isn't sherrifing, this is common sense that every other website follows. If you're going to attack a site relentlessly with junk without interacting with it, you're just that: a spammer. Also, I get it! I care about the cblogs, so that's "sheriffing", I guess? I support legitimate members more than nearly anyone on the blogs, so sheriffing is hardly what I'd call it.
@Silver
Actually on second thought, I have a question. I've done nothing but positively comment on all your blogs, support your decisions, and generally support anything you do: so what's with the throw-away comment?
Also, I've decided, like I said in the blog, to stop even caring about the absurd circumstances like the free advertisers who dupe our members. I suppose we're just going to "deal with it, and hope more Examiners don't flood the blogs", and I can't change that.
I will say this though: I want to offer constructive criticism like this. If you read my conversation with the creator in that blog, I think I was able to convey why people have a problem with his past blogs in a respectful manner, and offer helpful suggestions when others would simply might say "fuck you". If you think that even this is inappropriate, I'd like to hear your opinion, truly.
You have a great deal of passion for what happens here, and I think that is to be commended! I do put a lot of time and thought and care into what I write, and I totally appreciate the fact that it gets a chance to be seen and discussed.
I did stand-up for three years, and one of the reasons I love DToid is that ya'll remind me of an open mike crowd. IF you don't bring the heat, you get taken off the stage. Period. I can't think of a better place to sharpen my game writing skills.
So yeah, I never minded a comic getting on stage and telling the same jokes they told at another club the night before. But if they only got on stage and said, "Hey! Come buy drinks and see me tell some jokes over at this other club!" and then left, they'd never get on stage there again.
Drunk blogs are pretty hit-or-miss , most of them are stupid and have a feel of a 14 years old boy drinking a bit of beer and showing of to his friends how totally drunk he is ... But the one by Covah today was hilarious !
I'll say it again , where the f* is Hamza? Those spammers have been around here for quite some time , everyone knows they are spammers and every single blog of them is pure unaldutered trash , however nothing happened to them ...
THE HORRIFYING C BLOG CRYSIS if at full power and it shows no sign of stopping , the banhammer users don't seem to take action and our hate mails are only fuel for their black corrupted troll hearts ...
I think we need another Community Manager , not a replacement for Hamza by anymeans , it's just that Destructoid is so much bigger than ir was before , only one lone guy can't do it all ...
@magnalon
Why the shame? Sheriffing is awesome, you get to wear stylish cowboy clothes , dual wield pistols , kill native americans ! Pure unaldutered fun !
@Magnalon: Whoah whoah whoah. Where did all this anger toward me come from? I have completely agreed and supported almost every comment and recommendation I have ever herad you make in or about the Dtoid community. When I read this blog, I also completely agreed with it.
When I call you "the Sheriff" it is a compliment. I think you do an exceptional job making comments on the cblogs. You support people who do a great job, and always give great advice to those who need to do a little better. I honestly think you love this community, and I support you in every way. To call you "The Sheriff", is really a way of me showing you respect. I do not mean any disrespect in anyway.
If you still think I hold some type of ill-will toward me please let me know. I'm not sure where these ideas come from, but I assure you I have nothing but admiration and respect for you. If you think I made a "throw-away" comment on this blog, it's only because I agreed with it and really didn't know what else to say. You know how it is man, sometimes you read a blog and love it, but don't really know how to properly respond. I responded by calling you the sheriff, because in my eyes you are one bad ass sheriff and I would kick anyone's ass who tried to remove you from that position of awesomeness. ;-)
@Silver
Haha it's just the comments you've been leaving, I've felt like they've been derogatory. Like I said, it was really odd to me, because you're one of my favorite community members.
Where the communication breakdown happened: people have called me the sheriff in a negative context, and said it was hurting the blogs, so I eased off a bit. Then, some weeks later, you use it in a positive manner, but I didn't see it that way, so that's my error.
Any negative thoughts I have are based on your remarks that I took the wrong way, and have nothing to do with your attitude or posts! It's my fault <3 <3
**Hugs**
@Magnalon: Let's hug it out bitch. ;-)
If you want I can stop calling you "The Sheriff". I you are taking it in a negative manner, others might be as well. I don't want to help build this negative image of you. Instead I want them all to fear your wrath. Now that would be power. :-)
Keep up the great comments man. I will always back you up dude.
It's just me being insecure regarding the moniker. If I continue to offer helpful suggestions to ease community members along there would be no reason for me to take it that way.
"Keep up the great comments man. I will always back you up dude."
Same to you!
You guys do realize that, in the end, this is all about video games, right? It seems like you're getting a little too worked up over this.
@Char
Haha, it was a personal issue for me, nothing more.
@ Magnalon you are the Sheriff, I don't mean it in a bad way, but where ever fail is found I know you'll be there to raise your fist at it and cry "GTFO!"
My only complaint is that the spammers tend to get more attention then legitimate blogs because everyone feels the need to jump in and call them on their suckage. I'm just as guilty of this as the next person, but I know I feel pretty disappointed when I write something that only nets 3 comments while a spam blog can easily go to 2 pages.
Since the examiner people have all been identified by now and aren't responding to their hate mail anyway maybe its time to just start ignoring them until they cross the line and get banned for good. It would be the closest thing we could get to community regulation. I vote we go all puritan and shun them.
Well what's easier to comment about, someone sucking hard or a well though out disscussion that requires more brain power than the regular joe would want to use in a website that is primarily about fun and vidya gaems?
SHASHASHAHA!
