Nothing could go wrong on Christmas...Right??
MAFAKKA | 6:26 PM on 12.25.2007 14 comments

I'm just going to cut to the chase. My Rock Band Kick pedal snapped right after my dad took his first shot at playing the game. "Meh" i thought, as this had happened to a buddy of mine and was quickly resolved with a trip to the hardware store.

So I'm calling my friend to find out what it was he used to glue the poor, abused pedal. I figure now would be a great time to try out my brand new Call of Duty 4. "Not So!!!!" shouted God, as he hurled a red ring and smacked it right on my 360.

I've had no problems since I got the system when it launched. I laughed in the face of all those poor souls who were unfortunate enough to find death waiting at their 360. I guess karma catches up to us all.

If you're reading this, you've probably noticed two things. One being that I get my religions mixed up, and two being this is my very first post. It has occurred to me that I don't feel the need to let the world know of something unless it either infuriates me or is hilariously inconvenient. This is sadly a case of both. I can't decide whether to laugh or scream. One thing's for sure though. This break is now going to be filled with 24, Die Hard, and World of Warcraft.

RIP 360 We hardly played ye...

Get well soon Rock Band!

Damn. That sucks. It kinda blows that your 360 red ringed, but it's also awesome that you have Rock Band and CoD4.

At least Microsoft extended their warranty, eh?

It's a Christmas setback, not a Christmas disaster! :D

"If you're reading this"

Damn, that usally ends with 'I'm dead" or "I killed my self".

I broke my kick pedal last week and I was anxiously awaiting my replacement pedal until I got Call of Duty 4 and a Playstation 3 for Christmas.

Congratulations this is one of the better first posts I've read in a while - all you need now is a memorable avatar and you will be right at home.

If red rings have to do with karma, I must have been Jesus in a past life. I have a launch console that still hasn't died on me.

@aborto

I've had my 360 since Feb. of '06 and it still works like a charm as well, without any hiccups of any kind so to speak.

Also, make sure it's dead permanently before sending it in and what not. I've gotten red rings five times and all I had to do was unplug the system from the wall, disconnect the hard drive and memory cards, and then plug everything back in.

Frankly, I think the whole RROD thing is greatly over exxagerated.

Video game related Christmas calamities are always disappointing. You could always go the "thanks for ruining Christmas, Dad!" angle... might get you a PS3 or something.

Those hardly ever fail.

Except during its slightly sketchy PSN Account creation stage, where the system likes to add spaces and such to your passwords and (must be exactly correct) secret question answers. I spent two hours trying to figure out my secret question answer before I realized that it had auto-typed a space after the final word. Freaking PS3.

Still, not terminal like a red ring of death! I'm really sorry, bud.

Everytime I read one of these things about rrod I feel frustrated with that piece of hardware.

Wow, fun responses to read. I figured as a first timer I would be lucky to get 1 or 2.
to those who have had a 360 from the beginning with no problems, all I can say is knock on wood. I was in your position 2 days ago so heh, good luck.
