Why not try Eve? The barrier to entry is not as high as it seems. Finish the tutorial and make sure to switch your chat tab to your "starter" corporation. Soon you'll have a decent handle on how things work.
EvE is a brilliant game but not for everyone, I am an EvE addicted but I'm still excited about jump gate because its so different.
If the combat is anything like SWG:JTL but with more variety then hopefully it will fulfill my twitch based combat needs.
I played EVE for a while and just didn't get into it, i propbably just don't have the patience :p
I signed up for the beta. It looks pretty fun, and very different from the usual games like this that tend to hide the awesomeness of SPACE EXPLORATION AND BATTLE with complete and utter boringness and repetition.
A Freelancer MMO would be, without a doubt, the greatest thing to ever happen. I would never leave my computer if that came about.
That being said, I really hope Jumpgate Evolution can live up to the hype. I would love to have a space sim MMO that isn't EVE
