First off, I know somebody wants to say "But what about Quake 4?" That wasn't a fucking sequel to Quake 3, that was a sequel to Quake 2. Done.
GameRiot posted an interview of Marty Stratto (Id Software's Executive Producer) talking about QuakeZero and another Quake game. Eh, I read the announcement somewhere else, Quake 4 mulitplayer was a flop, I was less than intrigued. I read the interview anyway because it had QuakeZero info, and HOLY SHIT! (*queue orgasm*) The next game in the Quake series is going to be made in the same style as Quake 3. Competition based, built from the beginning to be a multiplayer game. (*queue second orgasm*) I stopped playing Quake 3 a matter of weeks ago, only because I can't get it to run on my computer (I'd rather not be asked about this). There is nothing that compares to Quake 3. There is still an active community out there that is still taking the engine to new places. Check out
own-age.com. They have an awesome section of Quake 3 videos, focusing on frag highlights, trick jumping, and defragging. After watching a few you'll realize that they just don't make players like the ones that play Quake 3. If Id can recreate the magic with this new game.... I can't even imagine a situation that would give me a semblance of the happiness I'll feel. Here's a
link if you're interested in reading the whole thing. Cheers
