The next GTA title to be set in France ?
Luigi | 4:19 AM on 11.01.2009 22 comments

We all know about the Next Stop poster from the GTA Liberty City Episodes manual, which teases us saying that they're done with Liberty City. But what could the next location be next ? Japan ? Germany ? Las Vegas ? No ! It's France.

Why France ? Well, the first clue is that the poster's "missing part" resembles quite good the map of France.

Score ! What's next ? Well, the poster looks quite a lot like the New York I Love You poster, which was the sequel to Paris Je T'aime.

And that's about it.

What do you think ?

Yeaaah I came into this expecting to say that I hoped it was a cyberpunk Japan.

However your evidence is so solid that I'm going to assume it is France from now on. Good eye.

Uh, yeah. GTA France confirmed.

That makes sense, they wouldn't even need to change the radio music...

...wait a minute, Rockstar loves to spoof American culture, it's their bread and butter. If they set it in France what are they going to do, spoof Jerry Lewis?

Get the heck out of America: I'm pretty sick of "American Stories" already.

If this is true, I'm glad Rockstar is keeping it fresh.
Cartman's Destructoid Blog
They should totally set it in South London. Seriously.

Good spot.

Awesome sleuthing! Fapped!

Shit, I may actually but it then.

Wow. I'm sold man, well done!

There's also a random encounter you end up having with a french guy. You know, the missions that are just little people icons? I drove this french guy back to his hotel. Kinda random, but kinda supports this idea, tenuously.

Also, what Preacher said. I have a hard time conceiving of a GTA that isn't playing off of American culture.

However, Ronin had awesome car chases. I'm in.

The inner GTA fanatic in me who will eternally love and always want to return to Vice City is crying, but another part of me is excited.

If this actually happens.
Roager's Destructoid Blog
It's believable. I'm pretty sure they did one in England, back in the 2d days.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but I don't see a huge reason to go to France. The setting of GTA is not nearly as important as the presentation thereof.

Why stop with France? Rockstar should consider going back to San Andreas' "bigger is better" and do a CONTINENT. London, Paris, Berlin...yeah!
PwnanObrien's Destructoid Blog
If I remember correctly Paris was pretty much under the rule of gangs for a while there when all the riots were going on. This could be interesting.

Other people have said it's a sideways V for Vice City though...

France would be refreshingly different and cool to play in.
I think your theory has weight. But so does look for the triangke shape everywhere you go. You will find it if you're really looking THAT hard.
Keeo up the good work though. :-)
Matthew Blake's Destructoid Blog
It'd be interesting, but knowing Rockstar's sense of humor, I have a feeling most of the French characters are just going to be lame stereotypes. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
JohnnyViral's Destructoid Blog
Interesting. Ive always wanted a GTA set somewhere other than fictional american cities, so this should be interesting.

I do have to agree with Butler on this one and say that I would absolutely LOVE to go back to Vice City, figure out what happened to Tomy Vercetti and all that.
