Since well Eternity's Child will probably be rewieded soon, I would like to express the stress I am having right now.
This article is not about Eternity's Child, the first score I got from critics for this game is 7/10
Clearly Eternity's Child is not what I wanted to be like, because of many financial issues the game did not turn out how I wanted, I wanted it to be clearly one of the best platformers ever made. But well that was not possible.
One of the things that I hated doing was changing the hand drawn animations to ragdolls (yes money doesnt grow on trees)
Joshua Pierce handled the entire programming of the game, so well what we have done with Eternity's Child is better than alot of Wiiware games on the market, knowing that we live off noodles and pancakes.
Ok yay, we have publishers interested in our next games, but they take ages and ages... but it also depends on well what the reviews of the first game gets.
Alot of developers well their game is their baby and when they see the press tear it apart it does make them mad, most of the press to game developers are
leeches, yes got to be honest here, we don't like the press lol.
But for myself, well I guess I will start hating the press when they review Eternity's Child, not that it's a bad game, its just not what I wanted, its my baby, it's better than any 5 dollar game I have played and well worth the money.
Well I also dislike publishers in general, I mean I have had problems selling my games because of the art style, the art style is never mainstream enough.
But anyway I hope that Eternity's Child on steam sells at least 10 000 copies, if thats the case I will be able to break free from publishers and just become a official Wiiware/XBLA dev myself (yes it costs money to do those things)
The next game I will be focusing on is this one
I'm just sick of all these war games or retarded puppy games and I think there needs to be a change in the industry, people tend to think that gamers can only understand games where you play a bald man with a gun.
For that one I will use the money made off in Eternity's Child to invest in hand drawn animation aswell as a game designer to work with me, since I don't think I'm that great at game design, and that game needs to be perfect.
However Imagination Is The Only Escape is
DEAD, it's being
REBORN as new idea and premise, it's a mix between Pan's Labyrinth and a Miyazaki film, Niero has seen the story, and so have other people, the rest is secret. But it's something that can change the industry.
Or would you guys rather keep on playing stupid retarded games?
but I don't like the press indeed, or war games
and I can say what I want lol :P
@Fantatism
that is just scary

Honestly, I don't think you can get mad at the critics if you yourself don't think you put out the best possible game you could have. It's like Uwe Boll saying "Hey I want this to be the best evar movie but I have a low budget and crap actors, but don't bash it goddamit."
Hell, if it even comes close to a Miyazaki directed Pan's Labyrinth I'm in.
You know what, just get within 100 miles of anything Miyazaki's done and I'll be there.
and I wasen't talking about EC in the article
Also, you must be really stressed right now, because it was a little hard to understand what you wrote.... Or maybe I'm just retarded.
Low budget doesn't mean bad reviews. Everyday Shooter is a great example of a low budget game for example. Also Audio Surf, Poker Smash, Puzzle Quest...

The press to developers are a necessary evil. Your game will not find a place for casual gamers (they tend to flock to popular games), your market is the gaming enthusiasts, and most of them learn about games through the press.
Its the easiest way to advertise your game to gamers without a enormous budget for marketing. If course its if the press likes the game.
Calling your audience with a pretentious elitism though, is a bad idea. Just be enthusiastic about your game. DON'T have doubts when presenting your game. Even if your game doesn't meet your visions, don't write any disappointments about the game for everyone to see.
I understand Dtoid probably seems like a safe place to say whatever you want (or is it?). But as a developer, I think you should be more careful what you say to the public.
Anyways, good luck with press reviews. They will be brutally honest about what they find in your game, Good or Bad.
If you think your game is better than most budget games out there, don't worry, you will get good grades.
I need to proof read or Dtoid needs a edit button.
