Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
$3.99, so generous! :P
Also, like I said in Luc's earlier post, if anyone needs somewhere to host any custom levels let me know and I can hook you up!
But the shooting mechanics are great and the alternate little charge-ball/shotgun blast is awesome.
Definitely gonna be working my way through the game in the next few days before class gets heavy again.
You can buy it by using click&buy. No credit-card needed.
Anyway I´m downloading now.
Although I have unfinished business with a lawyer and with some geometric shapes right now.
I'd buy this (hell that price is virtually free) but I don't have a penny in the bank at the moment thanks to extortionate bank charges :(
Maybe next week
I bought trials 2, everday shooter and penny arcade using click&buy from steam and never ahd any problems.
+ you can buy from iTunes with click&buy too.
clickandbuy.com
Also, I'll be buying mine within the hour.
As for constructive criticism based on the trailer, though, I find the running animation sloppy but I realize that is a budget issue. Making a tweened walking animation that is decent is super hard.
One day, sir, one day.
I'm enjoying what I've played so far. I got to the end of Level 3, but I missed one of the gems so I'll have to replay it. This is easily one of the most beautiful modern 2D games (It easily gives Odin Sphere a run for its money). It looks nice in screenshots, but you haven't really "seen" it until it's running fullscreen on your computer in a high resolution.
My only problem with it is that the jumping acts funny once in a while, causing me to fall to my death. Also, I kept falling through through some of the platforms on the first level, but that might have been because I jumped too close to the edge of them.
Question: Is there something wrong with the "Purchased Game" Achievement? Mine doesn't seem to be active.
Kudos to you sir for finally releasing it. I know from reading your cblog entries that you've put a lot into the game. :)
Because we plan to update the game as much possible to make sure the consumer is 100% happy
I have no idea how much we've sold so far to be honest
Really fun, but to EASY!
The only thing that makes the second level difficult is the lack of checkpoints. I would sometimes acidently fall in the water and have to start from the begining with nothing to kill or collect...just running back to my previous position.
I rarely get hit, let alone die, from enemies.
TOO EASY?? WHAT? lol wait till you get to 3 and all the other ones
I just not noticed that Chapter 1 has 20 levels. You definitely get a lot for your money. (I'm on level 6 and my steam counter says I've been playing for 2 hours already.)
we are also fixing the jumping as I speak so there will be a auto update soon
Yeah I read the review before coming here... Don't really know what to do to be honest... A side of me really want to try it, but on the other hand the reviews and the massive amount of users on IRC keep telling me not to
So, how much control do you have over the WiiWare version? I was reading your other blog (and some of your comments here) about how you were getting into fights and disagreements with your programmer(s) over various things in the game. Is anything like that hampering the WiiWare version, or is that being handled by a different development team?
Oh yeah. One more minor problem I had with the game. Is there an easy way to take out the big mechanical bird-like creatures? Because they take so long to kill, which kind of disrupts the flow of the game.
My usual method for handling them is running close to them, shooting for as long as I can, and then running off-screen so they begin to move back to their starting position. Then I repeat the process over and over until they die. (I'm so glad that they don't track you through the whole level like the hearts do once you get in range.)
Anyway, sorry if you're getting sick of hearing from me, but I wanted to let you know that the new patch is great and fixes all of the control problems I had with the game yesterday. Thanks for getting it out so quickly.
Check out my blog post related to EC and it's treatment on D-toid before you decide to buy or not based on the D-toid reviews or comments...
That's a little unfair :( What you see in the review is an honest opinion given by two people. They didn't incite the community to harass you. A review is just a point of perspective, how someone else outside of that reacts is their personal choice. The comments by the community is a mix of mob mentality, prejudgment, and some worthwhile criticism/praise.
You also have to realize that not every person who reads Dtoid is a douchebag that plays follow the leader. Or even, for that matter, uses an account to leave commentary. Some shitstorms aren't worth pursuing.
I'll wait for the demo before I decide to pass along any criticism :)
I support you as a developer, but I think you need to learn to hold your tongue a bit when it comes to criticism. Ignore the people who are being outright assholes, listen to the people who are offering ideas and constructive criticism.
Accept that your game is imperfect; don't make comments blaming the programmers for control problems, and don't blame the community here if you feel like the game isn't being well received. Most of the people here support you so when you make comments like "this community is turning on me" it kind of makes me mad because most of us are trying to help you by giving you are support and our hopes that you put out another game that's even better. Hell, half of the community here has written that they love the game, despite the review!
So seriously, just take a minute. Take a deep breath; calm down. Keep positive, and don't turn your back on the people in this community who support your effort.
I don't have steam (GASP) but I know if you ever sold art for this game, without even having played it, I would buy it right off the bat. Keep your unique style and ideas; just implement them more effectively next time.
So in short not a good game.
