Late to the party: Final Fantasy
Loogibot | 6:29 PM on 07.20.2009 10 comments

Good job Square-Enix. They seem to be making at least two Final Fantasy related games that I'm interested in. I'm by no means an FF fan, but it looks like Dissidia and XIII are looking real good right now. I've tried some tittles in the series, mostly parts III, VII and X-2, but those didn't do anything for me but frustrate and disappoint. So before anyone calls me out for not even trying, I have, really. But so far nothing in this series has pulled me in.

Don't know what is going on here, but I like it!

So, I've been watching videos all over for anything in XIII to draw me in, and from the looks of it, I've found it, I'm really digging the futuristic setting. Not a first in the series, but Squeenix has done something appealing this time around. As for Dissidia, It looks like a fun brawler, and I've got a psp, so I'll give it a try.

She's reeling me in with that fishing rod. It is a rod, right?

I'm going to really give this a chance, maybe I'm missing something the older games weren't presenting right away.

Bro, Final Fantasy IX.

AKA, the best Final Fantasy.

Do it.

Better late than never. Change the 'IX' from Diverse's comment into an 'X' and you've got my favorite.

Look, IX and X are both AMAZING. It's virtually impossible for me to decide which is better and I've always struggled which is better (my view started with IX being the best, but changed a lot). There has never been two FF games together that were better one after another IMHO.

Can't believe you've never played them mainly. X-2 was horrible, 7 was great but is overrated and 3, in between X-2 and 7 in terms of goodness, kinda average.

If you've tried those games and haven't enjoyed the series at all, you might be out of luck. You've basically done a sampling of all the different styles in the series.

If any of them are going to be different it will be XII, which totally revamps the combat system. It would also tell you how much you'd enjoy 13 which is said to be similar.

Maybe FF just isn't your style.

You should probably play 6 [III], which has the best story and best characters, and is the best in the series.

If you have played it and don't like it, then I guess we're enemies.

Great! They're good games.

My personal favorite is X, followed by IV, then VIII, then VI.

I don't know what's with the hate for X-2 sure it Has a different flow and tone, but it has an amazing battle system and the side quests were pretty fun. The only shitty thing was the sheer amount of things you could miss by progressing the story too fast.

@Sylphx THANK YOU SO MUCH!

And play them ALL!!!

@Diverse: I'll try to get a copy, don't know how, but I'll try

@Takeshi: I have a friend who'll gladly let me borrow that.

@ZippyDuda: To be honest, I didn't play them for very long, but what I did experience didn't do much for me. I guess this is me trying to give it a chance.

@Bluexy: It's funny, I have this inexplicable attraction to it. I'm fascinated and curious, yet I've been let down. Something is wrong with me?

@Norm9: Can we be less enemies if I not emulate that?

@Magnalon: Why am I glad to see you here? Anyways, It looks like X is first on my list. Then we can talk about it. Yes.

@Sylphx: Not my flow I guess.

Try 6. Even if you don't dig the gameplay, you'll stay for Kefka ;3

Also yeah, something about 13 has gotten me really hyped up. Don't know where all the hate for it comes from.

FACT: Actual picture of my current tongue

Yo, I'm a Latin-American NYC student of Graphic Design, who spends most of his free time playing videogames, drawing random stuff on paper/computer, watching Anime( I love Hayao Miyazaki's films, and my trip to the Ghibli Museum strengthened this)/Sci-Fi movies, reading Manga/Comics, reading books, Karaoke with friends, messing with electronics, surfing Teh interwebz, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember now. I've been mashing buttons and plucking analog stick since the age of four, with no signs of slowing. I mostly listen to Punk, Grunge, Metal, Hip Hop, and Rap.
