About Me
I am a PC gamer. I have a water cool completely custom case that I hand crafted from raw materials and PC DIY parts. The case is one of the smallest 3 120mm radiator cases that exists. I have a modest computer inside. The non-water cooling parts cost about $650 dollars and I upgrade the system about every 3 years and the video card about every 2 years.

I have been gaming all my life. I started with simple LCD portable games and we eventually got an Atari which I played the dickens out of. NES was too played until my fingers had blisters. I bought a PC in 1988 and have not looked back since (well except to play karaoke with my ex-wife). Games like Civilization, Battle of Britain, Ultima IV, Leisure Suit Larry, and Wing Commander took my heart.

Sytems I have owned:
Atari 2600
Atari 7200
Nintendo NES
X-Box
PC
Wii

I am also an avid technical scuba diver and have logged dives at 170' deep. I play paintball, softball, football, and all sorts of table tops games that include DnD and Axis and Allies. I am also in the process of writing my own table top RPG and have spent three years working on it. I have a woodworking shop and can make furniture, picture frames and the like.

I have a degree in Industrial Design. This makes me a designer of products, architectural way finding, POP displays, and user interfaces. I have also taught design at the college level.

Deus Ex 3 is a PC Exclusive
Locke | 4:27 PM on 11.25.2009 28 comments

I figured this was fitting news for the PC section... Finally. Though Jim Sterling getting a PC is hard to beat...

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2009/11/25/deus-ex-3-is-eidos-and-square-enix-joint-ef/1

Very cool that the complexity is up there to knock consoles out of the running. Maybe they will dumb it down for console in a half a year or so. The first Deus Ex game was so awesome, hopefully this will fall suit. No game since has been made like it. It had everything...

- Persistent stage to stage
- Hit locations
- A great story
- Character upgrades that affect game play choices
- Integration of those choises in an interactive world
- Non-Linear gamplay
- Great stage maps
- Long story and lots of play!

It seemed that many games would follow this scheme, but non did...

Well at least some good news for PC. Hopefully something can be done to help the console out with this in the future.

I can't wait to play the dubbed down PS3 version.

I can't wait to play the definitive PC version. Oh wait, that's the only system the game will be on.

AM I DOING THIS RIGHT MR. STERLING?!

No, but seriously. I mean the game probably won't be all that bad, since you really can't do any worse than Invisible War, right? RIGHT?!

"It has been confirmed that the game is a cyberpunk prequel to the first game though and that it won't be getting a console release due to the complexity of the game."

Took me a few reads to notice that line, so I thought I'd repost it.

I am now hyped. :)

I think this is all that needs to be said.

Very very brave of <insert publisher>.

I'm grateful they're taking the risk, it's been years since a PC Dev has, but forgive the pessimism in me that can see this ending up canned or being nerfed by E3

Wow, after reading that, my hopes for the game really shot up.

I want to know how deep the cyberpunk goes in this one though. Will it be like the first one, where you only get some nanomachine prototype whatevers but are still mostly human, or will you actually play as a cyborg soldier this time around?

I mean, because the Denton's were supposedly the first ones to use the nanotech, and this is a prequel...

Either way, what Sadistic said: Can't be worse than Invisible War, right?

if they just to stick the the original formula they will be fine... everything in that game integrated so well. Some better AI and more upgrade options, maybe some more complex maps would be nice too.

usually not a fan of platform exclusivity, but if they really do turn out a game that wouldn't be possible on a console this will be a day 1 purchase.

There must be some financial reasoning behind this since typically big budget games typically don't have platform exclusivity. All I can think is perhaps maybe just maybe this team is more dedicated to the project than I previously thought.

@Palidi

Even before the Dentons there were Tanks, non-nanotech cyborgs, such as Gunther. They were pretty common place but eventually phased out because nano-tech cyborgs such as the Dentons and MIBs were far superior.

Yeah, I couldn't remember exactly what they were called, but those Tanks are what I meant when I said "cyborg soldier". I mean, being a prequel, it only makes sense that you would play as one, right?

If they plan to make any money off of the game they will.

@ yehat and timtheterrible

well there's always the asia factor, and the ps3 has a little more oomph than the xbox so it could still come to ps3...

dont count out korea... they love their pc games... and spooge all over starcraft, its practically a holiday over there

Really?! Thats a bizzare pairing. Well if Japan wants to throw money at it and do nothing else, then this is truely wonderful news!

I don't really care that it's exclusive or not for PC...

I'd get it on PC since I played the first one on their as well :-) Plus it'd give me something usefull to do on it other then playing RTS and mindless FPS :-)

Half-Life 2.

Anyway, it BETTER be PC exclusive.

We seem to have been hearing a lot about Deus Ex 3 for years but without any indication of a finish date. I hope it doesn't fall into the Crysis trap and limit sales due to excessive spec reqs, or the Duke Nukem Forever trap of promising The second Coming, and never getting around to finishing it.

I hope the game sells well on whatever platform. People need to experience the awesome that is Deus Ex.

If it will be a true follow-up in the spirit of the first one, this game might be HUGE. Right now it's still too early for me to get my hopes up, the shitty sequel has left me suspicious. I'll still be getting it once it's out though, no doubt about it.
