This was posted recently on Kotaku and i'm pretty sure that everyone here will be as outraged as I am:
"Your forum account will be directly tied to your Master EA Account, so if we ban you on the forums, you would be banned from the game as well since the login process is the same. And you'd actually be banned from your other EA games as well since its all tied to your account. So if you have SPORE and Red Alert 3 and you get yourself banned on our forums or in-game, well, your SPORE account would be banned to. It's all one in the same, so I strongly recommend people play nice and act mature."
"All in all, we expect people to come on here and abide by our ToS. We hate banning people, it makes our lives a lot tougher, but its what we have to do.
Those banned will stay banned, but like most other internet services, its not that hard to create a new fake e-mail account. However, its a lot harder to get a new serial key =)"
I'm not even sure that's LEGAL. Banning someone from the forums is one thing, but banning someone from their legally bought games is another! I don't see why people would buy EA products anymore if they endorse rules like that. Gogo piracy!
Man that's just going to encourage banned people to look for illegal serial kes for their games, or just go outright pirating route. Man EA are dumb. And I say that after working for them for a year.
PROTIP: DON'T CRITISISE EA ON THEIR BOARDS OR YOU WILL LOOSE ABILITY TO PLAY YOUR GAMES
I got banned from EA forums for complaining about a video syncing issue in Tiberian Wars, i did nothing wrong i just told them that they lied about their minimum requirements which they did. My PC was within their specs, but they told me it was because i had too weak of a processor.
"account would be banned to." He should have said "too." and just because he used the incorrect spelling of that word I'm not sure I trust any of that letter. EA is much more professional than that.
I see the point of those saying "just don't be a dick and it doesn't matter," but on the other hand, i see the point of those saying "so you're going to decide whether i can play a game i bnought based on things i've said? shitty."
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
about me
I've been gaming since the end of the 80's with my good old friend the NES, but soon after, her hotter sister the SNES caught my eye and we married. I re-married every 4-5 years after that, but that's unimportant.
Presently i work in the gaming field in Montreal and it's SWEET! Finally playing those games all my life has paid off. If someone wants you to stop playing games because "you won't get a job by playing games, blablabla" don't listen to them.
Waiting for: Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 2.
Games currently sitting in my systems:
360 - Mass Effect
PS3 - Persona 3
Wii - i dunno, it's dusty
PSP - Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
DS - Final Fantasy IV remake + FF4 in the GBA port yay
PC - I think Fallout 3 is in my dvd drive

PROTIP: Don't get banned/act like a sh*thead and you won't have a problem
Wow... that's shocking. I thought EA was on the up and up and not trying to make their forums the nicest place on Earth.
Wow, can we get a Citizen Kane slowclap.gif in here? Because that's the greatest bit of douchebaggery I have ever heard of.
Fuck you EA. I'm sooooo glad I haven't bought any of your games lately, since Burnout: Paradise.
dumbf**ks! all that gives them is the ability to ban u if you happen to..oh say...badmouth EA or a particular game. talk about a can of worms
PROTIP: Don't be a fucking troll and you won't get banned

So i can't use that e-mail with new EA games.
Woot for suppression of criticism.

HOT TIP: DON'T THE EA FORUMS. THEY SUCK AS MUCH AS EA.
