About Me
I've been gaming since the end of the 80's with my good old friend the NES, but soon after, her hotter sister the SNES caught my eye and we married. I re-married every 4-5 years after that, but that's unimportant.

Presently i work in the gaming field in Montreal and it's SWEET! Finally playing those games all my life has paid off. If someone wants you to stop playing games because "you won't get a job by playing games, blablabla" don't listen to them.

Waiting for: Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 2.

Games currently sitting in my systems:

360 - Mass Effect
PS3 - Persona 3
Wii - i dunno, it's dusty
PSP - Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
DS - Final Fantasy IV remake + FF4 in the GBA port yay
PC - I think Fallout 3 is in my dvd drive

Chrome's insane ToS!
Lightthrower | 2:06 PM on 09.03.2008 12 comments

Being gamers, we rarely read the ToS of our softwares... Who am I kidding? We NEVER read the ToS of our software! However, there is one ToS that you internet users, might be interested in reading.

Google's new browser Chrome, has a ToS that contains some nasty specifications that will probably scare any artist/designer reading this:

"1. Content license from you

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.

11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this license shall permit Google to take these actions.

11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above license."

Chrome is definitely faster than Firefox, but are you ready to let go anything you put on the internet? Even this blog i'm writing right now could be their possesion with this ToS.

Full story (from a lawyer's perspective) can be found here:

I know Chrome is beta and all, but I downloaded it earlier and thought it wasn't really anything special compared to Firefox.

chrome is a memory hog.
but being free software(and open source) people can fork it if they want to.

That's kind of scary, now that I read and understood it.

OOH! There's an update. Apparently, they're just lazy and copypasta the same EULA during beta stages, revising it as it gets released.

Indeed seems like they will rectify it. If they completely squash section 11, i might try Chrome. If they don't i'll never touch it :-P.

its not worth trying anyway... like linuxguy said, is a memory hog and it doesn't have adblocker (yet)... without adblocker, it looks like a roll of nice, soft toilet paper...
