Is the Gaming Industry Distancing itself From Gamers

Song of the Day:

It seems like the gaming industry is not catering to gamers anymore, too often people(publishers and gamers) make the comparison between movies and video games and that one day games will be mainstream and be seen as "high art".

However that's far from the case, video games are more like comics and animation, in that they have their own way of telling stories. I have only seen a hand full of games that can achieve the title of "high art". Most of the time any story focus  game or AAA game just tries too hard, be that catering to everybody instead of to gamers especially xbox one. Other things like Hulu, Netflix, HBO Go, or Motion sensors; these do not enhance gaming at all and with Nintendo (in my opinion the only maintream company trying to do things for gamers) on death-watch. It seem Game Companies wants to separate it self from gamers and cater more to the mass public. Can this really be good for us gamers?
