About Me
(Old banner courtesy of Char Aznable) (Current Banner is made by yours truly)

I may not know you yet but here's some things about me to get this new friendship started.

I wrote stuff, made friends, started a series, joined a team, started whoring out my name, and had my love compared to the smiles of prostitutes.

I think if we could meet and sit down and chat we'd realize that we're not so different, you and I.

Let's be friends yeah?

I haven't forgotten you Beyamor

Well...He's there now...never used to be. Also, I tried re-formatting that picture. It just disappeared altogether....

First, a basic question. Why did you start blogging? And why here specifically?
I love to read and write. I also really enjoy sharing my writing with other people who will listen. Shouting my opinions at other people is also a plus. The problem is that outside of school I have little motivation to do so. Blogs allow me to do all of this as well as finding out what other think of both my writing and my ideas and motivates me to write.

Why on Destructoid?
I came to Destructoid for gaming news and soon stumbled upon the c-blogs. From there it was basically over. Destructoid gave me a place to shout my ideas, a captive audience, and awesome people. The standards that they hold the blogs to as well was part of it. I have always been told that I was a good writer so I would never really edit my writing, but I find that on Dtoid I actually end up editing my blogs more than I do my actual English papers. Also the fact that they allow anyone to comment in anyway you like lets you see people’s uninhibited thoughts, in agreement or otherwise without fear of reprisal. That is something I can respect.

The continent I am on. (By “I”, I mean you).
The continent I am on?
I hale from a continent people call North America the land caught in the time between when Asians and Europeans get their games. More specifically the America part of it. Yes America, where we is more smartest than you and drive on the correct side of the road.

One word to describe yourself.
One word to describe myself?
Lax. The song “Let it Be” by The Beatles is basically my anthem. I don’t stress over anything and my doctors wonder how I am still breathing as my heart rate and blood pressure are so low. It has served me well thus far.

Favorite Food?
This is tough. I like to cook and so enjoy a very wide variety of food. That said my mom is the one who taught me most of what I know but I have yet to be able to replicate her recipe for Dijon-Wine-Marinated Beef Roast. Made with a 3 to 4 pound boneless rib-eye or rump roast, she marinates it for 8 hours and cooks it for about 2. I can only guess that the secret ingredient is crack but I assume that that is what the flesh of angels taste like.

Favorite Game? (Obviously)
Final Fantasy Tactics. To this day, I still go back to it. I have probably spent more time playing this game than sleeping. I currently have three copies of the game (2 PS1, and 1 PSP), five if you count my two copies of Tactics Advance. Since I got back home I have been able to hook up a wired connection for my PS3 and tried ad hoc party for the PSP version (my friends are too afraid to accept my challenges). I have lost one match since I began, and it was with my B team.

Five Other Things
Favorite Author?
Believe it or not games are a second to reading as a hobby for me. I have a ton of books, everything from fantasy, to philosophy, to technical manuals, to epics, poetry, and everything else under the sun. As long as it’s words on a page I will read it. My favorite author is very hard for me to pin down. It could be Lewis Carroll, Niccolo Machiavelli, Michael Gorbachev, Feydor Dostoevsky, Vladamir Nabokov, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Alduos Huxley, I’m gonna stop as you probably get the idea.

My current favorite however, is Jorge Lewis Borges. I am in love with his style and many of his ideas. The last thing I read by him was The Book of Imaginary Beings, essentially a bestiary of mythical creatures. It has the stuff you would expect like dragons and phoenixes but it also has some not so well known creatures from literature. Some of these are the Bandersnatch and Jabberwock, which fans of Carroll should recognize, The Baldanders, which shares the name of the main bad guy from Final Fantasy XIII, and creatures from lumberjack folklore like the Goofus bird which builds its nests upside down and flies backwards because it doesn’t care where it’s going only where it’s been. I would recomment you read some of his short stories like Deutsches Requiem, The Aleph, and The Zahir.

Other favorite Things?
Rock climbing
Sex, drugs, and Rock and Roll
Beach Stuff (swimming, diving, spear fishing)

If you could punch anyone here on dtoid, who would it be and why.
Who would I punch?
That guy over there. I don’t know his name because he hasn’t introduced himself. He just sits there in the corner staring at us from the shadows. It’s kind of annoying knowing that he’s there just lurking. Come, dance with me, join the fray, do something medically ill-advised, do something. Or I’ll go over there and punch you.

If you could hug anyone here on dtoid, who would it be and why.
Hug?
You ask the impossible. To pick a single favorite from the wonderfully superfluous and verbose group of people is simply unimaginable. However, were I to visit Canada, I know there are quite a few Canuks I would like to see. Also, were I to attend a PAX I am sure there would be no shortage of love.

I Need Scandal Please.
Something Scandalous?
Hows this? I think I may be in love with one of my best friends from high school. We have known each other for over five years now and started off as antagonists. We eventually became friends and found out we were going to the same University. I would tell her how I feel, but the problem is she is already going out with someone. They have been going out for the better part of two years now. Normally I wouldn’t care, but the person she is going out with happens to be another of my good friends, I introduced them, and he is a really good guy. However, he is from out of state, and not being able to afford out of state tuition anymore, had to move away. They chose to try a long distance relationship and even if it doesn’t work out she has been trying to get into another college for two semesters now and only got turned down because she didn’t have enough credits. I expect her to get in by the end of this summer and that would put her several hours away. I have a white gold necklace (her favorite) I planned to give to her before she left but when she told me she didn’t get accepted I chickened out. Scandalous enough for you?

BOO!!!!
Oh God! I’m so sorry, you can’t sneak up on me like that. Someone call the ambulance and scrape up that bit over there on the floor, they should be able to stitch that back up, I hope.

Coffee or Tea.
I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks, but I love tea. I like mine bitter, usually Green of Oolong tea.

Did I do a good job?
Most assuredly. I look forward to these with great anticipation, and it was fun to come up with the answers to these.

Anything you would like to be asked?
Question?
Have you ever been to the hospital emergency room, and if so what was the most foolish thing you have done to put yourself there.
I have been to the hospital plenty of time, to the point that I think some of the staff recognize me when I come in. I used to ride dirt bikes when I was younger until one my friends really hurt himself doing super cross. One time while I was riding I lost control of my bike and ended up falling into a canal. I fell about seven feet and the bike landed on top of me, knocking me unconscious. I wok up two hours later, dragged the bike out of the canal, rode back home and fell asleep on my bed. My mom came home, found me bleeding and asleep on my bed, freaked out, and drove me to the hospital. Fun times.

Well I don't know about the best but it's pretty darn neat:)

Nah, this was great. I feel like you are much more of a real life human being now that just a beautiful sex doll like I have imagined you for all this time. Thanks for sharing and I can relate on the Final Fantasy Tactics love.

Tactics is the only Final Fantasy I've been able to expend energy on. True, if boring, story.

Great interview, as ever. And good choice in interviewee, even if I came out of this feeling tremendously illiterate. Hey, some of us stand by Seuss.

Great interview. When asked by lawofthermaldynamics who I'd like to see interviewed I'm pretty sure you were one of my picks Yoj1mbo. It would be a crime if you weren't picked.
