Moar local co-op please.
LOLface | 11:23 AM on 01.13.2009 17 comments

I honestly don't see how developers are not implementing split-screen/local co-op into their games anymore. Yeah there's online co-op but that doesn't solve the issue when there are two people wanting to play the game at the same time on one console. When that other person is your fiancee, there's no taking turns, she plays.
Now the only games that her and I can play together are music/rhythm games, Lego games, Fable II(which the co-op is arse), and Rainbow Six: Vegas. We started to play World at War together, but it was hurting my head with the vertical split. It seems like our favorite genre(rpgs/jrpgs) don't usually support local co-op.
So essentially, if we want to play any sort of game together we'd have to have our own consoles or just play online rpg's on the PC(which we've done that too). But there's the problem there too: cash is tight so, new console is out of the question and she can only play mmo's for certain periods of time until she gets tired of them.
More local co-op please.

Horde Mode in GoW2 is a godsend for split screen goodness.

Yeah, we tried Gears 1 and she didn't like it. She likes colorful games(mainly jrpg, she's Asian lol), that's why she doesn't care much for Fallout 3. She also likes games where you can be female, mainly rpgs lol(with the exception of World at War, she owns).
I'm not too picky when it comes to video games, but she usually is. Which is why we usually stick to Rock Band 2 or DDR.. or I usually just let her play single player or multi player while I do homework or work in Photoshop.
I just wish we could find that *one* game that we both can play together that she will love. I'm hoping Lord of the Rings:Conquest is that game.

1. Get Secret of Mana for SNES
2. ummmm....that's about the only rpg you'll find co-op on.
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!

Have you guys played Castle Crashers?

But yeah, totally agree with you on the local co-op, although I rarely do it myself. It just seems...wrong not to have it.

Castle Crashers is the best for local co-op right now :D I just wish I didn't loose all my saved characters when my box RRoD'd

They need to make a new Toe Jam and Earl... the greatest co-op game ever.

Nademagnet, I'm slowly making my way through unlocking the characters after losing everything before the patch. All animals, weapons, everything. So if you want to play some time with level 1 characters or need help finding weapons, let me know. My GT is ShinigamiBV.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS BLOG POST!

Online scares me ... :)

Got the same problem here with the co-op issue, I wish they'd make more games with it and make them as good as the single player - everything with the co-op issue usually seems to half-ass'd
Qraze's Destructoid Blog
the games i seem to get mostly have co-op. lbp, soldnerx, pj monsters, pj eden and alot more on psn that have split-screen and play great.

I would love to see more coop games in general, not just split screen, but coop over all. I like how its catching on more and more, but id still like to see more of it.

For example.. I would love to have seen a coop experience with Farcry 2.. and it could have played out really well. So on and so forth. Coop is win.

You should definitely check out Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360, it's a JRPG with a multiplayer aspect for up to 4 players. (Though only during battles.)

It's a fantastic game and somehting your girlfriend might be into. And you can play as a chick, haha. Check it out.

Tales of Vesperia has pseudo co-op, player 1 controls the character in the normal world but in battle you can have up to 4 people controlling everyone.

Buy a Wii seriously, Wii has the best local multiplayer games this generation and probably a lot more games that would appeal to her and probably games that both you and her could get into.
flamesofchaos's Destructoid Blog
Also here's another suggestion since you have a 360 buy castle crashers it's the best co-op game in 2008.

I'll definitely look into getting Castle Crashers, I was just waiting because I had seen that they were going to release an update to patch things up or something. So I was going to wait until they fixed things(I assume things needed to be fixed lol). But thanks for the suggestions and for reading my blog. =]

 about me

I play fps', third person shooters, rpg's, jrpg's(are they considered different genres? lol), etc.
Right now my two favorite games from this gen of consoles would have to be Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.
I make forum signatures for the most part when I'm not spending time with my fiancee or gaming.
Examples:

3 of 100s

I enjoy music, listening to and playing it.

My favorite TV Shows of all time:
Firefly(Gorramit!)
new Battlestar Galactica(Frak yeah!)
Home Improvement(Hidey Ho!)

My favorite movies of all time:
Serenity
Star Wars original trilogy
Shaun of the Dead(Best movie depicting what would realistically happen in case of zombies imo)
Army of Darkness
Edward Scissorhands
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Mars Attacks!
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Begins
ugh, I'll stop....

I'm in my sophomore year in my AAS degree in Computer Graphics and Programming. I don't know what I'm going to do when I get my degree, job wise since the closest video game company is in Springfield, MO and I haven't done much research on them.

So, that's a little bit of me...
