First things first: I'd love to see a G.I.JOE fighter game, that would be rad. G.I.'s and Cobras, heck yeah! FTW
Now on to my blog...
I'm in my final stretch of my AAS Computer Graphics and Programming degree and I have to create a game. I'm going to do my best to get a working 2D Fighter before midterms.
Anyways, it got me thinking... are fighting games' quality and 'fun factor' in a decline? I mean the first 2D fighters I played were Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, MK is pretty much going to be over unless God makes a miracle happen and I'm still undecided on the new Street Fighter's style(I'll let the gameplay win me over).
1. I am a fan of Soul Calibur and I thought the IV installment was pretty much rubbish. I wish they wouldn't have included characters such as Yoda or the Apprentice(I played on the 360) mainly because everyone and their frakkin' grandma used Yoda and the Apprentice(anyone else notice it was Crashdown from BSG?) online. I'll just stop on the discussion of SCIV before I spew out too much.
2. Dead or Alive never really interested me at all, seemed like it was just 'eye candy' for gamer 'nerds'.
3. King of Fighters seems like there's 100s of different versions out there ;)
I dunno, I always liked my Street Fighters, Marvel Vs 'X Company/Game', and Mortal Kombat games... Maybe I'm just stuck in my childhood days(/daze lol) of doing wicked cool combos or Fatalaties. As time progressed Fighters moved to a 3rd dimension and they just didn't seem to be the same to me anymore.
But oddly enough I for some reason love the way the Naruto:Broken Bonds on my 360 and the Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 on my PSP play for some reason.
Anyways, any ideas on which of the old school 2D fighters I should model my game after?
