I'm kytherno. I have a bit of a split-personality, so pardon me if that shows up in my blogs.

I have a pulse, I breathe, eat, sleep, and dream. Oh, and I play vidya games.

I'm leaving destructoid. And before any of you say “I don't care”, realize you don't have to post on this blog. I've been pondering how everyone turned against me and how people think I am such a noob/jerk/troll/etc. Then it hit me. Some of you hear what I say. And if it's not In sync with what I say, then you immediately shut me down.

However most of the destructoid community is nice. My first blog made me feel at home. But as I dug deeper into my vidja thoughts, I was assaulted. And I'm not blaming you. We're all open to our opinions, and such. Also it seems that I should wait, or maybe come back when I learn that to be liked, I have to agree and acknowledge everything everyone else is.

I know there are a few amazing people within the destructoid community, but the negatives outweigh the positives.

I'll be here for news only. I have no reason to speak anymore towards you all.

Um....bye?
Too bad to see you go. It's like when I used to play animal crossing and my good friend Dizzy the elephant left to live another town. Was it my fault? Should I have pulled more weeds and kept the town nice, or was it simply meant to be? WHY DID HE LEAVE ME? Oh right. Hopefully if you come back you'll be met with less criticism than before.
Ahh don't leave. I may have disagreed with your last blogs opinion but the only thing you needed was better explain your stance. It's okay to have a different opinion. It's okay if people disagree with you but don't let these responses get you down. There have been and are far worse people on this site.

I dunno if your last blog was a joke since you didn't have strong enough statements but that might be why people may have reacted negatively. Also this community is notorious for being nice and welcoming. Stick with us.
Well...if you want to leave then I guess you want to leave.

But you know, I don't like seeing people leave and I agree with gareth...disagreement is natural for people who have opinions in the first place and it shouldn't be met with sadness, but with an open-mindedness that leads to a better understanding. No one knows everything, and opinions, ideas, and thoughts expand or even change through interaction and debate...also, short blogs with little content are a no-no...just saying.
I'm sorry to see you go.
I don't think people were being that mean over the Halo thing. I also don't think anybody really cared that you didn't like Halo... but the reasoning you had was more opinion-oriented when we were expecting an article full of logical reasoning. Most of the people in the comments were just offering their own opinions and offering what seemed to me like healthy criticism.

Look at how you responded to Corduroy Turtle... he was just trying to say that he doesn't care that you don't like Halo (unlike the people you said hated you for it). You immediately thought he was saying something bad about you and said "You're bothered by my opinions. Admit it." ...in a really defensive way. Even later when he explained what he meant in that post you still had the idea that his original post was mean-spirited.

If your expecting everyone to hate you for something then that's what you're going to find. You don't have to leave but you should try to not worry so much about what other people say and calm down.
To quote the late great poet, Kanye West: "With so much personality, what do you want from me. I could be by myself and enjoy the company."
@ GoggleKnocker

Well to be fair I kinds agree with Kytherno on the "I don't care" point. Corduroy may not like me saying this but I've never understood the point of saying you don't care as a response as you cared enough to let that person know it.
If I do decide to come back, it'll be much later, and with another account.
Hey, dude, everyone's right. You gotta learn to take a few shots on the chin in life. Its good practice. I just read your HALO opinions and all the comments, as I was curious what all the hub-bub was about.

Look, you're right that its your blog, and therefore you certainly can post whatever the hell views you'd like. However, in doing so you open yourself up to the rest of the world! Dtoid doesn't allow us to disable comments. You and I both know that, right? So whenever we post our thoughts in here, we are in effect inviting the community to say what they want about them.

Yes, it can be very annoying to have one's opinion torn to shreds by those that don't agree with it. Especially if they act like criticizing a video game is tantamount to dissing their momma. But hey, some of us are passionate. Some of us are also a bit younger than others, and haven't learned yet to express themselves with diplomacy. So you felt the wrath of some trash-talkin' fans. When it comes to video games, every piece of ground is somebody's holy ground. You step on it, you gotta be prepared for the wrath of god.

Here's a bedtime story:

I was once a part-time resident of the boards over at superherohype. I rather innocently began a thread there one day posting the question, "Would DC be better if it wasn't a Universe?" This line of thought was born out of my then outrage at everything Infinite Crisis had wrought and ressurected. So I began with a very literate and logical argument for a DCU split into three genres. Without boring you with the details, I clicked submit and went back to my silly little existence.

Oh, Hell's Bells.

When I logged back on the next day to see what my loving community had thought of my proposition, my thread was awash with a torrential firestorm of judgemental hatred. So I took a breath, read the comments thoroughly and planned my responses. To the sarcastic, I was sarcastic. To the persnickety, I was persnickety. I posted one response each to suchlike ones and ignored them otherwise.

However with those that gave my ideas consideration and provided well-conceived rebuttals, I engaged in a lively debate that went on for pages. Sure, it was a little heated at first, but eventually the trolls left and the conversation wound down with light banter and hearty good cheer all around.

The moral? Be the better man, and achieve better results. This world lies to you, Kytherno. It tells you that politeness and acceptance are weaknesses. It tells the same lies to those that read your blog. But you don't have to believe those lies. You can be better. And you can save yourself from a lot of gastrointestinal distress in the process.

Whatever you decide, fare thee well.
I don't think you should let the opinions of a couple nay sayers (myself included) ruin your time here. Also, we have no problem with contrary opinions, we invite them actually, but they have to backed by solid arguments, and unfortunately, that halo post wasn't.
It's not just other's denying my opinions. I'm changing. And once I'm finished, I want my blogs to have one specific mood through them rather than fluctuating.

I've looked through my blogs, and I realize sometimes I am trying to be funny, and at other times, I'm being serious. I want to pick one.

But it does make me want to stay, seeing everyone tellin me to.
GOOD RIDDANCE ARCH NEMESIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUAH HAHA I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!! CBLOGS IS MINE, ALL MINE, HAHAHA AND THE CHAOS EMERALDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@garethxxgod
Kytherno was talking about how people hated him just because he didn't like Halo. It was confusing at first but from what Corduroy said later it seemed like he was just saying that he personally didn't care if Kytherno didn't like Halo... not that he didn't care about the post. In other words I think it was meant as:

Kytherno: "People hate me 'cause I don't like Halo."
Corduroy: "Well it doesn't matter to me if you like Halo or not... if you don't like it that's fine with me."

Instead of:

Kytherno: "This is why I don't like Halo."
Corduroy: "I don't care."

At least that's how I saw it.
People think you were a troll? Did I miss something?
@Kytherno

I think that, as long as you keep a good balance, funny and serious blogs are better than choosing one or the other.
Who were you again?
@ Goggleknocker

I could see it if they were having a direct conversation but that wasn't the case. Corduroy just said he didn't care in response to the post. I mean if Kytherno was screaming it in his face I'd understand but what I'm saying is why bother flately announcing it if you have no interest in that persons opinion?
@garethxxgod
I know it sounds like that in the first post but later on he said in response "Why should it bother me if you don't like Halo?". I could honestly see it going either way so whatever it doesn't matter.

@Tony Ponce
It seems like this is mostly about this blog from yesterday.
U MAD
@ Goggleknocker

True story. I think Kytherno is kinda overreacting abit and should stay or at the very least work on making his posts a little more clear when it comes to attempting comedy.
lata gata
Well I believe that if you do come back you become less of a ass hole about some things
Heck if ChrisBradshaw can change I believe you can too
Wow, ok. :D

I'm just surprised, is all. The internet breads some strong, flash opinions and reactions. Even on the best written, well thought out opinions that I've seen expressed, there can be ludicrous amounts of backlash!

Dtoid hosts a bunch of people that are really passionate about games, but, as you noted, a good core of decent not-jerks.

I'm just surprised you've been turned off. Taking a quick look at your stuff and your comments... well you haven't seen that much heat, I think :D

I mean, check out this blog from Tony Ponce (who once roamed the C-Blogs as MegaStryke. http://www.destructoid.com/nothing-is-sacred-kill-the-controller-152005.phtml

Well written, strong opinion, radical idea. Some people agreed, but plenty people just got completely ruffled by what he was putting out there. Sucks to see a cool dude get shat on, but, radical ideas often meet with strong passionate resistance! One could even take that as a good thing! That conviction to strong opinion and keeping his cool under that pressure probably helped get him the prestigious contributor gig he rocks today!

So, you know. Keep your head up, man. Do what you've got to do, but don't let opposing opinion, polite or otherwise, slow your roll!
I liked the part where you treated the internet as serious business.
Alright brother. If you ever want to come back, we'll be here. Take it easy out there.
This is definitely a post that I need to comment on.

lol, if you want to see a blog that gets ripped on (and I mean RIPPED ON). Look no further than yours truly. Look though, this audience is by no mean a standard of quality control is what I've discovered. Not to say that everyone's ridiculous, they just need need to be educated sometimes or you could be WAY off bloody base.

After glancing over your blogs my main concern is the nonsense. What is the point is my main issue. I don't defend Destructoid's appeal, I don't like it and I'm probably the most serious gamer you'll meet, so when you lose appeal on both sides of the spectrum, there's something wrong there. You need more declaration! Personal preferences don't fly (I like this, I don't like that), give me reasons. This method works for me. Then again, you can always put a bunch of lol-cats with corny captions in order to get a few fraps, that works. Or suck some dicks, and write about shit you know gamers will appreciate you for, like misguided fan boys or how you love a certain aspects of games or gamers.

Like they say, "The best way to be loved is to be lovable." (I don't do this lol.)

... Lastly, it's Pok-ai-mon not Pok-ee-mon. There's an accent on the 'e' and that's how you pronounce it in French. I know because I'm a Quebecer and can speak it.
@Kytherno: Please stay. When I read your stuff it just reads like a person that is trying to find his voice. Destructoid has a good group of people here. If you stick with them, I'm sure you'll get the props you seem to be looking for. Some people are making this too complicated.

Just write more. Practice makes perfect. Find your voice. Relax.
@chrisbradshaw, cool story, bro.

@Fame Designer, thanks. But I think it's too late for me to stay.
You can still lurk you know....like me. it's the cool thing to do.
Man, I must have missed something.
My "I don't care" comment was in response to Kytherno claiming that people attack him with hatred and death threats for not liking Halo. What I was saying earlier was that "I don't care" whether he likes Halo or Call of Duty or whatever. Stop acting like you're shaking the foundation of this gaming community by disliking a popular game.

In response to Kytherno leaving, all I can say is we'll see. This strikes me as an attention grab but hey, I've been wrong before.
@Corduroy: At 40 comments in, this is totally not an attention grab.
Lol.....i......what? People are going to have conflicting views, its human nature. And who gives a shit if you flux from being funny to serious? Its not an issue man. Your not one personality in real life im sure, so why would you have to be on a computer, doesnt make sense. Do you quit life the moment someone tells you you are wrong? No? Then man the f*** up and write some more blogs that will give me lolz.
Well, I read your blog on why Halo sucks. I realize that you're entitled to an opinion, even if it's very wrong. I'm not a fan, I don't read your blog, but I'd like to say... Good-bye.

I can tell you know quite a bit about realistic weaponry from your post and from the fact that you said COD has the "real" guns. Idiotic sentences like that are probably why you're leaving. Please inform me of how the Super-V is anything like it's COD Counter-part. Now, I know you MUST be referring to the UNSC weapons for the most part, and I can agree. It's 2552! We're still using projectile based weapons? I think not. Plasma Based weaponry is VERY futuristic.

COD makes fun of their own names. "Soap? What the hell kind of name is that?" - Price. If you're interested in Realism, then you'd probably hate the COD series. Play ARMA II. Enjoy Realism.

There is a little lack of Adrenaline in the Halo Series, but it makes up for it in dramatic moments: Reach - you watch a cruiser battle in low atmosphere as a result of what you've just done in a mission... then watch your victory get slammed into the ground as your frigate is shot down.

The comment about Beyonce isn't even relevant.

Sorry that sage green is a color than blends in the grass and foliage.

So, there you go. Enjoy your life.
Aw man. I've felt this way myself at times y'know. We joke around a lot and if you're already upset about something else, it can get to be a little too much. Don;t take the trolling personally man. It's just a thing we do.
...not that I had anything to do with this particular trolling, of course. I don't even know what you're mad about. Just speaking in general terms, that's all.
