If you've ever read one of my blogs, or at least glanced at the right side of the screen of my posts, then you know, I loved
Final Fantasy X. The story, characters, gameplay, and everything was pretty great. But most of all, it was the level design and how beautiful everything is and why it would be amazing to have some of the wonderful areas in real life..
A Glance at Zanarkand, Home of the main character, Tidus.
The beginning of the game takes you right to Zanarkand, the New York on steroids. The whole area is brightly lit, and the people are all running around sometime late at night. A City full of life (Technically, it's full of thoughts...) that is in a constant motion to get from A to B. Well designed buildings, others, and the blitzball stadium. The Blitzball stadium is the highlight of technology in Zanarkand. It is guarded by two stone Statues and has the capability to hold a giant sphere of water in front of a packed stadium.
The Front of the Zanarkand Arena, where blitzball games occur.
Later, you arrive at besaid beach, a very traditional village. Near the village is a large church, where people pray and achieve aeons as part of a pilgrimage. Crusaders are also stationed in the village, sent there to protect the people and to fight sin. Outside of the village area, is the monumental statue, and ruins of what was once a city.
The ruins of what once was, Besaid City.
Then to Luca, another technological Haven. Here is a massive blitzball stadium used for world tournaments. There are docks for ships, and plenty of people during the great tournaments. There is also shops and cafes for watching the tournaments from a distance. However, I wouldn't see why anyone would go to a bar to see a tournament, when there is such a beautiful blitzball stadium only a few feet from ya.

Later, you visit more places along the way. The Thunder Plains is a dark and gloomy area, but still pretty unique in terms of the other environments. There are the calm lands, where everything really is calm and flat. Used for chocobo riding, training, and all sorts of carnivals and events (As seen in the sequel). Then there's the beautiful place (Forgot the name, I blew it) where Tidus and Yuna first kissed.
The romantic scene with Tidus and Yuna when Yuna started crying.
There's the desert area (Sanubia Desert?) which exists as the home of the Al Bhed, until the war began and the Al Bhed ended their own home. Also used for mining and the such. There's Mount Gagazet, a giant mountain that has a hot spring towards the top. Mount Gagazet is full of graves of humans that died during their pilgrimage. After Gagazet, there's the destroyed Zanarkand.
The Destroyed Zanarkand, destroyed by a massive war.
As you can see, the land of Spira is a glorious area. If they existed in real life, things would be a lot better in all sorts of ways. Beautiful areas, Amazing technological fortresses, Giant mountains that can touch the sky, A forest with the shimmer of blue, a traditional village with a thriving community, Ruins of what was once a great city, and so much more.
Sin, hovering above the ruins of the great technological phenomenon, Zanarkand.
