So, this is my first Blog Post on DToid. I have been reading the main articles for a while now and have always wanted to start blogging, but being a Collegiate Student and Athlete and having a Girlfriend, it can sometimes be hard to find some free time. But this weekend the Girlfriend is at home, there is no track meet and I just got done with a week full of tests, so I figured why not start up the blog.
So for my first Blog Post I thought I would talk about my Gaming History and Where I am now. If you want a quick little Bio about my Life, check out the side Panel for some details.
My first every gaming experience came when I was about 3 or 4 years old and my dad got a NES from my Mom as a Birthday Present. My Dad had grown up playing Arcade games such as Asteroids, Pac-Man, the classic Arcade games that you would play at a 7/11 from the 70's, and while he wasn't much of a gamer per say he loved playing the games. I remember the first ever game that I played was R.C. Pro Am Tour. A racing game that was very simple but also very addictive.
My Dad was the one that bought all of the games that we had, and For my 5th Birthday he bought what would turn out to be one of my Favorite games of All time.
I have played through this game more times then I can count, I knew How to get to the Last level (Level 8) by using 2 whistles (For those that have done this, you know what I am talking about) And I knew how to do this when I was about 5 years old. I loved our NES, I had Zelda, all the Mario Games, Duck Hunt, Off Road Racing, Galaga(Another one of my favorites) and countless other gems.
I then moved to my home town of Geneva, IL when I was 6. My parents didn't care too much about video games and since I had started Kindergarten they wanted me to start focusing on school and less on Games. Because of this I didn't get another game system till I was in 7th grade. So the way that I would play the new and upcoming games were at my friends house. I played all the new systems, SNES, Genesis, Game Gear. Then when I got into 3rd grade the N64 came out, and man did I want one. I still had the NES but I was getting a little tired of it. Then my younger brother was playing it one day and it ended up falling off the T.V. and breaking on the floor. So I no longer had a gaming system in my house. My parents thought of this as a blessing but I saw it as a curse. So I played the N64 and its many golden games at my friends houses.
Then to my amazement my parents bought me a Gameboy for my birthday, they said that we were going on a long vacation trip and that a Gameboy would be a good thing to play in the car. Now this was not the new color Gameboy or even the Gameboy slim, it was the old, fat, clunky, green screen Gameboy.
But I didn't Care, it was another way for me to play my own games whenever I want. I had only one game for it and that was Micro Machines, Another racing game that I grew to love. Since Gameboy games were cheaper then then regular console games I was able to buy a few. I had Donkey Kong Land 2, Tetris, and Super Mario Land 2. I loved all these games and I played the crap out of them.
After a long streak of going to friends houses to play Games, my parents decided to give my brother and I a new gaming system. I was bonkers when I learned what it was, I was also sad because they told me that it wasn't going to be coming out for another year. This got me sorely disappointed but it got me looking forward to the future.
Since this post is getting long and most of you are probably not reading it anymore, I have decided to just cut it and I will start it with the second part of my Intro Blog.
If you have not read the 2nd Post yet and would like to take a guess at what game system I would end up getting then go ahead and leave a comment with the game system that you think it is. Any person that posts the correct answer will get a Friend Request from me and possibly a some Invisible Magic Cookies, but it depends on if they are out of the oven by then. I should have the 2nd post up later tonight.
Here is a little hint to the console that I ended up getting, It was nicknamed the Dolphin.
Welcome to Destructoid, I love you. I too love the nuts of Vince from SlapChop.
Welcome to the Destructiod Army, recruit!
I don't love you, however. I just want to use you sexually. Twice.
We're gonna make america skinny again, one slap at a time
Talk about SlapChop all you want, but nothing beats Vince's Sham Wow ad.
You followin me camera guy?
I am pretty sure Vince's SlapChop ad is a revolution in itself. Besides the fact that I am in love with his nuts, he also opened my eyes when he told me to not only to stop eating a boring salad, but to also stop having a boring life.
I am convinced that he is the white version of Abraham Lincoln.
Welcoming comment, Part 3.14.
You're going to love my nuts!
welcome!
Nice bud, good to see you around.
