About Me
I'm a sixteen year old gamer who has made two other accounts on this site so far. Why? I have no idea why!

I'm holding something here.

Out of My Way; Bosses in Video Games:
King Dedede/The Nightmare (Kirby's Adventure)
Andross (Star Fox 64)
Diablo/Mephisto (Diablo I/II)
Gruntilda (Banjo Kazooie)

Things I'm playing right now:

My top ten games of all time may not be equal in my mind but they're sure as hell all crowning achievements in gaming, and I don't want to suffer through the painstaking process of coming up with numbers for each. I'll just put them in the order they pop into my head.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Paper Mario
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Final Fantasy V
Terranigma
Super Mario Brothers 3
Jak 3

Really great games, no particular order:

Mega Man 8
Mega Man 3
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario
Chrono Trigger
Banjo Tooie
Final Fantasy VII
Mega Man 2
Kirby's Adventure
Mega Man X
Harvest Moon
Star Fox 64
Final Fantasy IX

Super Mario Brothers 3
New Super Mario Brothers
Super Mario Galaxy
Terranigma

Games That I Never Seem to Finish: Requesting Destructoid Community Input
Krow-Kupo | 12:54 PM on 01.22.2009 39 comments

If I were to post a list of the games I've completed, it would be 1/50 of the size of a list of the games I've played. I too suffer from gamer ADHD, and I'm asking you, Destructoid, what game I should play first. The games in question are listed below.

- Final Fantasy VII -

As I wrote in a previous blog post, Final Fantasy VII is a game that has been haunting me since I was only six years old. Since this game and I have a long term history and that the only Final Fantasy that I've ever finished was the Gameboy Advance remake of Final Fantasy 1, I'd like to be able to check this bad boy off of my list.

- Metroid Prime -

I remember getting lost on my two playthroughs of this game, not sure where I was or where I was supposed to be. This is one that I'd love to see through to completion.

- Rogue Galaxy -

I picked this up in the used game section of Blockbuster for about ten dollars. I'm a huge fan of Level 5 as a developer, and I know little about the games plot or what will eventually come from all of it. I do know that the main character isn't a total cliched prick and that the game is beautiful. It's also been called "what Final Fantasy XII" should have been, and I'd like to see for myself.

- Pikmin -

Shigeru Miyamoto never fails to please when he comes up with a new game concept. Even the WiiSeries of games has been somewhat enjoyable. Pikmin is yet another Gamecube game that haunts me with its existence, knowing that I left the tiny spaceman to die on the familiar planet. Plus, the Pikmin may be the cutest plants in existence.

- Super Mario World -

A childhood favorite, I'd like to crush Bowser and save Princess Peach. What more can I say? It's Mario!

- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask -

I still believe that this game has the potential to be my favorite Zelda of all time, taking the throne from the Wind Waker. I haven't played it in years and going back to it with a different perspective might be what it takes to finally complete it.

There you have it Destructoid, I'll do a tallying system similar to what ThePhil did yesterday, and I'll play these games in the order that you decide.

Super Mario World. No question. You're not a man til you've finished it.

Also... I don't remember saying "AAAH, GIANT INVISIBLE BABY!"

Metroid Prime
Super Mario World
Pikmin
Majora
FF VII
Rogue Galaxy

I still need to beat Rogue Galaxy. It's on my "to beat" list, but I plan on picking it up, and playing it again some day.

Super Mario World. Seriously, it'll take you an afternoon, not two weeks like some of the others listed.

And I thought Rogue Galaxy was kind of boring. Didn't really like it.

I've also had problems with FFVII and Metroid Prime. I originally started FFVII back on my friend's PS1 and made it to Cosmo Canyon. When I got my own PS2, I got FFVII and played it up until...well, I've been told I'm right before Aeris dies. I never got past disc 1. And Metroid Prime, I've started it twice and then got distracted by some new, shiny game only an hour in.

Personally, I'd try to get those two off your plate. Metroid Prime so that you can give your Gamecube some loving, FFVII so that you can have a proper opinion on how much you want to criticize it in retrospect. I actually plan to return to FFVII once I finish Deus Ex, which is much longer than I thought it would be.

FFVII
Mario World
Majora's Mask
Rogue Galaxy
Pikmin
Metroid Prime

If you arent really an RPG fan then I'd swap FF7 and Mario on my list. But if you want to be able to publicly say you are an RPG fan then beating FF7 is required. FF7 is to RPGs what Mario Bros. 3 is to platformers.

Super mario world (No question. Just finish it)
Metroid Prime
FF7 (when you can make it out of midgaar, then it gets good)
Rogue galaxy
Pikmin
Majora's mask

Prime and Pikmin are both getting shiny new Wii re-releases with greatly improved controls and other nice tweaks, so I'd wait on those (if you have a Wii).

Metroid Prime was way tough to get through thanks to all the damn backtracking.

Rogue Galaxy's dungeons were absolutely painful. I took that game back and said to myself... "This is a terrible way to follow up on Dragon Quest VIII."

I don't care what you play first, but Rogue Galaxy is last. Or not at all.

Super Mario World first, because it's a classic above all classics, then (just because I'm a massive fanboy for it) FFVII, though if you want to play it all the way through it'll take epic amounts of time.

@Serendipity

I actually have a fairly recent save file that puts me 3/4 of the way through Disc 1. Disc 2 is about the same length and Disc 3 is side questy, so I'm looking at about twenty hours.

i couldn't get through rouge galaxy because of the lack of variety in moves for an action rpg. I mean come on 1 combo? ridiculous.

It's an awesome game and I've enjoyed every minute of it...

But I can't motivate myself to set up my PS2 and finish Shadow of the Colossus. I only have like 4 left to kill.

Just watch the FF7 cutscenes on youtube, and you might have well finished the game. The fights aren't really that memorable.

Super Mario World should be finished before all else, and like Blehman said: it'll only take an afternoon of hardcore playing to finish.

I have not played Pikmin or Rogue Galaxy, though I am interested in the latter.

I would definitely recommend finishing Super Mario World, if for no other reason than that it's probably the shortest amount of work. :P

You never finished Metroid Prime?

BEST GAME EVER!!!

I can't judge though... I've got my own list of shame that's probably as long as yours... I hope you get around to finishing them some time...
