Maybe it's the fact that it's now 3:00AM up in here and that my hands hurt from too much Borderlanization and the fact that I'm kinda mellow right about now , mainly because I'm listenning to Method Man's Tical album as I write this C-Blog. ANYWAY! I better get started before I fall asleep on my keyboard.
For those of you who are still one the fence about getting Borderlands or want to have a good old time of videogame playing before the final game rush of '09 well let me tell you very clearly.
WHAT TEH HELL R U WAITINGS FOARZ!
The game's amazing and it's probably the best coop you'll ever get until Left 4 Dead 2 drops and I'm still pushing it. Borderlands is straight up fun alone or with friends and you would be a goddamn fool passing over this great title. (2K I'm waiting for that generous check KTHX)
Borderlands is freaking great and a lot of DToiders have done it justice by many great C-Blogs impressions but as far as I'm concerned I'm here to talk you guys into something very important that I have come to realized in the past days. You need to , NO ! You are obligated to finish the game and start a Playthrough 2 save game in order to fully appreciate this gem.
Much like any quest based RPGs Borderlands kinda falls flat in the first hours by giving you very simple and repetitive missions ŕ la Assassin's Creed or World of Warcraft but don't be fooled by the bland nature of these missions and by all means KEEP PLAYING. To be honest I personnaly rushed the entire first playthrough by running and shooting like I was running from the cat. Seriously I think I finished the last quest in an hour by skypping enemies and shooting the shit out of foes with my trusthy SMG.
The game truely shines however when the difficulty is upted a whole lot with the New Game + and for that you need to finish the game. Gearbox are freaking genious of RPG making they nailed it right on the spot not only are the loots and experience all ranked up with your level but the enemies also which is kinda natural you would think but HOLY FUCKING SHIT , you ain't seen nothing yet.
Let's put it at that ; Have you ever finished a battle shooting your way thru every centimeter against 5 BAD MUTHAS MOBS? (Which are the upgraded version of Badasses or Elites) and about 15 other opponents raging between bloodthristy creatures to beefed up thugs, well I did.
And it's probably one of the most addictive and satisfying experience I have played in a very long time. That is particulary why I dictate you to keep playing even if you have finished the story line once. Your initial playthrought will not provide the same intensity that Playtrought 2 offers.
The amount of mobs is extremely increased and the encounters pack a real punch.
You will be most likely to be equiped with 85% of purples and with a nearly completed skill tree, you'll feel like a total badass even if you are playing your life each time you're pulling the trigger.
We all love a challenge and the fact that we have to play about 20 hours of Borderlands before we encounter that little bugger is kinda dissapointing but once you've left the whom of I-Will-Hold-Your-Hand-Kindergarden you'll never want to go back in that comfortable pussy of a nest.
So my fellow D-Toiders , if don't already have , go buy this game and anticipate that sweet smell of Hardcorism in your trousers.
I'm waiting for the fucking game to be released on Steam, that's what I'm waiting for, assholes should of released it at midnight instead its some mid day release bullshit. RAGE!!!!!!!
Good to know, really!
I was arguing with myself if i should get borderlands or not (with Dragon Age Origins on the way and still playing Brütal Legend) but that did the trick.
2K, get this man his check! You've just gained a new customer! (4 more to Level up)
I'm playing the game in splitscreen with my husband... and he wants this to replace our Saturday night movie rental... so it's slow going with only a few hours of play each week. It's fun doing the game with a couch buddy (and with the restrictive 1/2 screen), but I would probably be done the game by now if I was playing on my own.
(and yeah, I know I could do both, but I don't want to spoil the story, nor do I want my level to get too high above his).
I started playthrough #2 this weekend and the combat is so much more satisfying. Since I'm a soldier, my first time through became kind of boring towards the end -- even playing alone, my ammo and health regeneration made it too easy.
But this. Jesus. I'm just glad I already bought everything I'll ever need. I'm losing $60k every time I die, and I've been dying a lot lately.
My friend bumped my xbox while I was playing Borderlands and it ruined the game disc. My fuckin' xbox scratched a circle on my disc and now it can't read it anymore... fucking gay as hell because I really loved Borderlands. I won't be content until I get it replaced... I haven't even beaten the game yet.
I need this game. I actually went out to buy it this weekend but no one had it. Well HMV had several copies but they were charging $65 and those bastards wouldn't price match to Best Buy/Future Shop's $40.
@Diverse ; HAHA! Tical isn't that bad man , it's actually one of the better solo albums from the Wu IMO with GZA's Liquid Swords.
@Double2 ; oh it's on now mafacka! Imma beat joo ass! ;) kidding
@Holyetheline ; That fucking sucks..... Did you slap the shit out of your friend?
@CelicaCrazed ; I also tried to get the game at 40$ but the special was only on the first day in Canada (Quebec received it the next day @_@). I traded a couple of old games and manage to pay 32$ so it's not too bad.
I'm curious, has anyone else here BEATEN playthrough 2? My friend and I finished the playthrough on Saturday night, and the game becomes even more entertaining. Every enemy in the game rebalances to level 50 (there are also level 51s). Badasses become Superbads, or Asskickers (it alternates depending on the enemy).
I play a Siren, and personally I still find it easy, but it's one of the more challenging games I've played in the past couple years. My friend who originally played Brick felt off the whole game, so we power leveled his Roland to 50 last night, and he still didn't feel right, so tonight we're going to get him a Siren at level 50.
For anyone who hasn't tried Lilith, she's a ball. Between my incredible fire DOT damage (I can shoot a level 51 Superbad Crimson Lance Sentinel until they're at about 3/4 health and my fire DOTs kill them in the next half a second) and the wonderful Daze ability from Mind Games, I can't be touched, even when everything is level 50.
This is definitely the best console game I've ever owned.

playthrough 2 as a hunter on my own is an amazingly awesome challenge
I find myself dying often yet still having a great time!
shardan ur purpalz
This should have scored higher than Uncharted. That is all.

@Jordan ; Soldier is definitely the way to go. I love me some regenerating ammo and health :P especially in P2.
Yeah, any Wu-Tang member's solo album that isn't Ghostface or GZA puts me to sleep too.
@kraid - do I sense a class war? well...
Fuk you man, bezerarizer is MUCH betta cuz hes got fukkin masive punch fists and shit! he cud kick a fukkin pussy bitch soldier ass any time any day!
In summary - Bezerker is superior due to increase melee damage

Ahh now I'm disappointed, I was too busy to go on launch day. But getting it for $32 is not bad at all. Oh well, I'll get it soon hopefully.
I seriously haven't been hooked on a game like this in a long LONG time. Also, Hunter FTW :D
