Well the weekend is upon us and for many this means a rushed drive home, a quick change of clothes and a whooooole lotta
liqueur.
As for me and mine this weekend is about the same except with one awesome exception.
These;
Let me preface this post by saying this;
Tattoos aren't for everybody, let alone game related tattoos BUT we've got a bit of history behind our decision to get them.
A while back Nikki and I had decided that we wanted to get some more ink done for part of our Christmas gifts to each other but couldn't quite decide on what. We had a few ideas, one of which was to get something done on our wrists that would line up and create an image when we held hands.(yes, yes, I know.. awwwww)
But that idea was quickly dismissed since there's really no way to do something like that and have it look even halfway decent. So after some some lengthy deliberation we decided to get "matching" pieces that were whimsical but still endearing to us.
While there's much more to our lives than just playing games, gaming has always been a big part of our relationship. In fact one of the first gifts I ever gave her was bought at a local Game Xchange here in OKC. It was a replacement NES and a copy of Contra.
When I moved up to Alliance, Ohio to help plan our wedding I had a contract fall through and I ended up having to take on a job that didn't exactly bring home the bacon. Needless to say we had to be pretty frugal when it came to spending money on entertainment. This meant a lot of visits to the various rental stores around town and more than a few dinners consisting of ramen.
We were married on October 25th of 2003 and after returning all the extra toasters, blenders and other miscellaneous uninspired gifts we went out and picked up a GameCube, an extra controller, Eternal Darkness(the reason we bought the 'Cube) and later on we snagged MarioKart: Double Dash.
Now, I'll admit that I had dumped all over the whole "double dash" concept saying that it was just a cheap gimmick to make up for what looked like poor gameplay.
That was until we rented it. I've never been more happy to eat my words over misjudging a game. We had a blast playing it. In fact after moving back home we played it almost every time we got together with friends.
Maneuvering our way down a volcano as my wife bitch slaps opposing karts while I serve up the blue sparks is amongst my favorite memories.
(fyi, there's no better way to cure a hangover after a long night of rockband than with a trip to a diner for some all-day breakfast. mmmm...bacon'n'waffles)
Those are some kick-ass tattoos- Congratulations!
Congrats ^.^
That is absolutely adorable. Seriously.
Awesome tatts :)
also: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That is just about the sweetest, nicest thing I've ever seen a couple do.
gotta say...I usually hate color tatoos. Hate em....but those are bad ass.
You should brand your children with Player 3 and Player 4.
Thanks for the positive comments.
I wasn't too sure about the reactions this kind of post would get since game related ink seems to generate rather polarized responses. But we were more than pleased with them so I figured I should share :P
@zeke; I dunno about the addition of a "player 4" anytime soon. P3 is more than a handful.
