So much for artistic integrity, eh?
So say we all !!!
So say we all!!!
And when a company has a lot of money, this enables them to take a few chances here and there on new and exciting properties. So try to think of the potential for good that can come out of this. Perhaps Ken Levine wants a bigger budget for his next great idea. This will go a long ways in helping fill that need.
So let's try and think positive for once here.
Developers spoil people now and they don't have any concept of the element of surprise. Fuck you guys, for taking away those moments that really used to surprise the hell out of me.
But then again, who knows, they could be good?
The whole concept of Bioshock is interesting and the only limit is our imagination. Don't let the fear of the sequel cloud your mind. When any game does well, its only natural we see more of it.
Us gamers are indeed spoilt fuckers. We want new games, but expecting every game to be original is pretty dumb and pretentious. We get original games, dont buy them (Okami, God Hand etc) and resort to being sequels. Regardless though, established series and new IP have to go hand in hand, as one helps pay for the expensive luxury of the other. Get used to it, cause this is the way it has always been, and always will be if you want this industry to survive.
Artistic integrity is a great and honourable virtue to have, but doesn't always pay the bills. Try to understand that.
I'll be looking forward to more Bioshock, hopefully as much as I do Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Street Fighter etc, etc. The Bioshock dev crew my support.
Now it's time for some serious stuff.
So in the end, nothing truly harmful will come from this. Yes, it is disheartening to see whoring of any kind, but creativity and innovation will always seep through the cracks, and more money in the hands of publishers means more developers getting a chance to show us what they've got.
So don't worry. If the game sucks, simply move along and find something else worth your time and money. It will all work out in the end.
