So I admit it. I haven't read a book since high school. I never could get into the stories we were assigned much. I think the last one I remember actually enjoying was "Castle in the Attic" or something.
Even in college I haven't read much... there was one English class where we were expected to read a novel every week, so that class was promptly droped.
Yes, terribly ironic that I want to write, but never read anything.
But the streak seems to be over, I purchased and am now totally into a book called "Little Brother" by Cory Doctorow which is about as nerdy as a book can get. The first 3 chapters had words like "IRC" and "botnet" and "teh suck" but also has a really sort of scary realistic near-future scenario.
I heard about the book on "Attack of the Show" on G4 (or G4TechTV for Canadian friends) which I actually rarely watch even though I employed by the network (for now), but I happened to catch a segment where they were interviewing the author, whom is also a writer for BoingBoing.net) and it spark my interested which in turned sparked my order to Barnes & Nobel.
He's got a few other techno fiction books out that I may have to check out after this one.
So ratings are good! I dunno if that's thanks to the Dtoid army or not but if any of you are watching, thank you.
So, during E3 week, we're going to do some E3 flavored rewinding, so you'll get to see when E3 was actually relevant and exciting! My how the times have changed. :(
Also, I'm running two contests, both of them with webcams and King of Kong DVD's and others as prizes. One contest is only open to G4 Rewind forum members who were around before G4 swallowed us up, but the other one is open to anyone.
The contest ends June 15th and so far I only have a very small number for entries so chances for win are high. If you do win a webcam, please jump online and join us next Tuesday night (if it arrives by then) for the next Virtual Audience... we need people who might have actually watched G4 pre-2005 and/or played a video game then.
If you bag on, have bagged on (like myself) or plan to bag on G4 for not airing gaming content, and instead airing COPS, Cheaters, etc. here's your chance to prove that you're bagging holds weight (maybe if you double bagged?). They've stated several times that if ratings are good, they'll look at either renewing some of these old shows or even creating new gaming-related shows, but if the ratings blow, then that just proves their point that no one wants gaming content.
They're not expecting amazing stellar ratings here folks, even if they're just a little better than what was airing in that morning slot (see: Totally Outrageous Behavior, COPS, Cheaters, etc.) then that will gain some valuable ground for us gamers.
If you have G4, watch this block! If not, then at least post on their boards that you approve of such programming and might be willing to subscribe if there were more of such gaming content.
That, or, convince Destructoid to plunge the few billion for their own cable network.
So while wondering through Best Buy I found these "Rock Band Drum Silencers" and decided that for $11, that wasn't a bad deal seeing as the neighbors were not fond of the 2AM jam sessions.
Their first mistake is that they look nothing like a real silencer on a gun. They're basically like big stickers. With rubber. If you've ever stuck something on something else before, you are a pro at installing these. For some reason there was no silencer for the drum pedal. Maybe that's a separate deal. I'm also a little miffed that the packaging didn't say anything about #1 top band Fall Out Boy nor do they have any stickers I can decorate the drum heads with.
I also did not see anything about a guitar silencer that would finally end the deafening clicking of the fret buttons that has had the police called on me three times to this day.
So I'm just a lowly 2-time red ring surviver, but it's threatening a third already, just a month after the last one, I was wondering why Microsoft doesn't institute some type of "Red Ringer Survivor's Club" for us? It could be broken down into tiers based on the amount of grief you've been caused and the higher the tier, the more free loot Microsoft owes you.
1-Time RRoD Survivor:
-1-Month Xbox Live Card
-Xbox 360 stress ball
2-Time RRoD Survivor:
-Free "Platinum Hits" game of your choice
-Xbox 360 Bottle Opener (for drinking away your RRoD related sorrows)
-1-Month Xbox Live Card
-Xbox 360 stress ball
3 Time RRoD Survivor:
-Free MS published game of your choice
-Special Edition RRoD "Red Heart" medal of honor
-"Survivor" hit single ringtone by Destiny's Child

Speaking of J Allard, where the fuck is he? One day he's the Howie Mandel of Xbox the next day he's talking about Zune, then he's vanished.
Okay, so this is like the 6th or 7th post I've made about G4, but there's a reason now and a reason I can explain!
I'm now an employee of G4, well... temporary, over the summer, I'm something of a... we'll call it fan-consultant. Here's the long story in short form:
-KnuxSonic loved him some G4, gaming TV, circa 2002-2004ish.
-G4/TechTV merged, Man Show, Star Trek, COPS, other "WTF" stuff.
-KnuxSonic built a site to archive the "good" G4 stuff, www.g4rewind.com
-G4 wants to win back fans, see's KnuxSonic's site and hires him to help with "G4 Classics" block.
-KnuxSonic has heart attack.
So yes, there you have it. G4 just announced today their new aptly titled "G4 Rewind" block will consist of fan favorite shows from the past and will be hosted by myself. Now I'm probably not the best looking gamer to have his mug on TV (those are probably reserved for the Dtoid editors that appear) and I'm a little taken aback by being referred to as "the voice of the fans," as believe it or not I'm not the biggest G4 fan ever (browse the G4 forums/chat and you'll see the brave souls that are still watching daily), but you've gotta be excited that G4 is giving up their station to the fans for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week starting June 2nd. Are there any other TV networks out there that would bother doing that?
For those of us that have bitched and moaned about G4/TechTV for the past 3 years, NOW is the time to put up or shut up. G4 is giving us what will probably be our ONLY chance to prove that these older shows which were focused on gaming are viable and are something we want to see.
I encourage all of the Dtoiders out there to go to either my site's forums or G4's forums and post your ideas, complaints and compliments. G4 is listening right now, so let's be heard.
I'll post more details as I get them, I'll also try to reply to as many comments as I can.
Born in the Alps and raised by a group of wild elk, KnuxSonic migrated to America in the late 1980's with only a swatch watch and his VHS copies of Saved by the Bell.
He began gaming soon hereafter while living in the basement of Funcoland, the one out by the mall (you know, the mall where the Greasers hung out? That one.) Sonic the Hedgehog changed his life. He realized that while he himself had no talent, he could write long paragraphs about nothing, literally! To this day, KnuxSonic still plays entire seasons of MLB 2K7 without remorse.
