I've never been much of a PC gamer. Even on my old rig, all I played was Halo and UT2004. Don't get me wrong, I love both of those games, but still, I think now that I have my new rig I should grow up a little when it comes to PC gaming.
Yesterday I pre-purchased the Orange Box on Steam despite telling myself I would be buying it for the 360 instead. I figured that it's cheaper, and I need to learn to play FPS games with keyboard/mouse again. So I've been rocking TF2 beta today, and loving every second of it.
But TF2 can't last forever, so I need som suggestions. Bear in mind that my history with PC games is absolutely abysmal, so feel free to list off some oldies...I guarantee I won't have played them.
In other news, I've been playing Skate more than Halo 3. Master Chief can wait as far as I'm concerned, I just want my picture on the front of Thrasher first.

If you like RTS get World in Conflict, it's AMAZING...
If you like mindless shooting, Straglehold is gorgeous and fun...
Black and White 2 if you've got a god-complex... (and it's badass)
Homeworld 2 if you want a pimp space RTS...
Battlefield 2 is another good on-line shooter...
There's LOTS more of course, but that's just a sample of the better games I've played semi-recently.
I'd say go for the Command And Conquer first decade box for RTS. City of Heroes and City of Villains is fun, altho its a 15$ fee per month, but if your big on other plaync games that covers them aswell.

obviously your top priority is to play through hl2 and ep1 if you haven't yet,
If you really want to show off your graphics card, AND you already have steam AND it is the most criminally underrated game in the history of gaming, ever, get TRACKMANIA UNITED off of steam. it's AMAZING!@!!!!!!1111010100101001
