I loled when I read this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hateful of Sony in any way, but after reading articles about the horror stories of Microsoft support, it's nice to see the shoe on the other foot. Basically, this guy owned a PS3 which sat in his entertainment center untouched except to put discs in. One day it stopped working, so he sent it in, and got a call back saying there was what looked like over 2 years' worth of dust inside the machine which caused it to be unreplacable. On top of this, they took photos of the inside of the system as proof, but say he can't see them without a subpoena.
Tis a lulzy read to be quite honest. Customer support is the worst thing to ever exist ever, so I really feel sorry for the guy. Especially after waiting for so long just to be treated like a bitch who spent a ton of cash on a console he can't even get repaired (Which must be inside warranty, it hasn't even been out a year).
Check out
The Consumerist for the full read-up. It's not too long. I hope he keeps updates on what happens. It's been far too long since I've read some Sony bad press.
Hahahahaha
Sure, their consoles are pretty ass in terms of hardware failures, but they don't look away like it's a minor problem. They may say it ain't as bad, but at least they take care of you. Like a mafia family. I feel so warm inside.
Two years worth of dust?! What?!
He should subpoena the pictures...
I think ultimately, that is the dumbest reason for not fixing a console UNLESS it is genuinely full of crap. (The console, not Sony... for once)
* Starts Saying Prayers * : P
I could see the Console full of that much dust if he lived in Phoenix or somewhere close.
