Ever since "Through The Fire And Flames" was FC'd in Guitar Hero 3, it seems the buzz around the game has died. GH3 has always been the weapon of choice for masochistic games, so the new DLC might offer up something new. I'm sure everyone has heard about the "Guitar Virtuoso" pack. But to me, it seems like Activision want to reclaim that idea of having the unbeatable song. None more so seem to take that prize than Buckethead's "Soothsayer". Clocking in at just over 9 minutes, it features what we've come to expect from GH3 note tracks: Random notes everywhere, ridiculously hard solos, and lots of prolonged antigination. But where would all the fun be in a short song with a nice solo?
Will "Soothsayer" be the new TTFAF? Perhaps not to most people. After all, both TTFAF and "Jordan" got their titles as unbeatable bonus songs. This is just DLC designed to extend the suffering of GH3 players everywhere. Not that they won't mind, of course, but still. It will never reach that level of notority. That's not to say half the internet won't be watching a video of the inevitable day when it does get FC'd though. And it will. It's only a matter of time.
Damn. Well, Neversoft's gone mad with power. This is just like One on GH3 for me; I can get to the end of the song, then I fail. Nothing more irritating than failing at the very end of a very long song.
I pray that one day, everyone will play games like GH and RB just for the fun and not want to be a massive poser d-bag and upload videos to YouTube to prove how big your ePenis is.
On that note, Buckethead knows his way around the strings but I think his songs are pretty horrible. It also doesn't look as bad as that Dragonforce song.
I actually might get this pack. I was impressed that the pack was actually UNDERCHARTED, and the songs look fun and passible... well, this is coming from someone who passes Raining Blood easily...
BTW... DON'T THINK THIS IS COMING FROM A DIFFICULTY = <3 PEOPLE. for he record I HATED GH3. As a musician (guitar, Bass, Drums) overcharted notes drive me crazy. But these charts look good.
Hey, activision. I'll make you a deal. make the Rock Band guitars work with GH3 and I'll buy the pack. I PROMISE.
As far as difficulty, I'm going to agree with Braulio. The solos were stupid, but the song overall is still no Dragonforce.
The pacing of the song was... well...
To be honest, Guitar hero's new hammer on system makes Through the fire and the flames a joke. This song looks even easier. The hardest song ever made was Jordan, which now doesn't even faze the people who give Guitar Hero enough time like me. Rythmn games have no way to increase in difficulty at this point without adding notes for no reason.
No way harder than TTFAF. The solos look insane yes, but TTFAF is 8 minutes of intense playing, this is more like 2 combined minutes of tough solos and easy crap being the rest.

That's not to say I would think it'd be fun to play, I just don't think it's the worst song on GH3.

One final note... ROCK BAND IS BETTER.

Still, that looked like a fun song to play. I enjoyed listening to it.
Even.
Close.
Those "solos" did look damn hard but if only the sound matched their difficulty.
