New year equals new Smackdown Vs. Raw, and while the smarter fans are waiting out for Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, the casual wrestling fans are getting their fix with WWE too. CVG have some new details about the career mode in WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw, both the 360 and PS3 version (Called 24/7 mode) and the Wii version (Called the lame Main Event mode). The 360/PS3 version will put you as either a wrestler or a GM, and you will have goals to accomplish for the season (Say, stay in the Power 25 as a wrestler, or keep a 13-week rivalry fresh as a GM). The Wii version let's you pick a brand (Raw or SD! only, you can't play as ECW for some reason), and pretty much just make your way to the top, from a lowlife jobber to the WWE Champ. You can pick a style, from clean, technicaly, dirty or hardcore, and form alliances with other wrestlers to help you through it. By the sounds of things, this game will book better matches than WWE themselves.
Other features include the ability to include Mii's in the Wii version. I have absolutely no idea how this is going to work, but it's destined for failure. With the WWE characters looking, well, half-decent (This is the Wii), against the most basic of designs that is a Mii avatar, I can't see the outcome looking good.
I'll admit, I'm looking forward to this. The ability to use music from the harddrive is entrance music, put together with the huge selection of CAW's to use, is just too good to resist. Plus it seems like they've bumped up the controls and style of the game. I haven't played a Smackdown game since SD!2 though. God the old ones were horrible.
