I am assuming you are talking about running out of IPs, in which case there is IPv6, but admittedly, there are not many jumping ship yet. The solution is simple though, nothing that requires panicking. Every single person on the planet could own an incomprehensible amount of IPs and we would still have plenty to spare.
The whole IP scare is old news that was mostly used as a gimmicky title for articles so people would click, there has never been a worry that the internet will be brought to a stand-still. At most there will be a time of transition were sites will have to adopt or what have you.

Ahhh scratch that, I did not see the link somehow? For some reason I assumed it was a link for an link for a separate unrelated blog. I see the issue now.
Interesting, we're not running out of internet in the sit down behind your computer screen sense, but the wireless, streaming, and cell phone sense.
Personally, I think the global water crisis we'll supposedly be faced with in the next twenty years will be a worse problem.

with the switch to digital TV, there is more bandwidth available and I suspect that those that own it will eventually auction it off to the highest bidder. Digital takes up a LOT less space than analogue and while the networks might still be holding on to that space for now, eventually I'm sure that they'll either use it for internet or sell it.
... which will appease the needs for a short while...
