It was just an idea, and one I'm glad you followed. Having to page down a full screen just to read a blog? Annoying.
As far as a paper, don't you usually have to fill us in on the class for which this topic will be written or at least some boundaries? Otherwise, U.S. politics and the presidential race is a prime topic to go with and has many subtle avenues of discussion available (race, economics, environment, male vs. female, bipartisanship, etc.).
How about how forums differ from blogs?

No. Seriously, I'm trying to help. If you REALLY want a game related topic, post this in the forums and see what they have to say. Most people in the forums are alot more interesting (and helpful) than the people in the cblogs.

My serious response (in addition to the second comment I made here when I was actually trying to be helpful), when you're asking a question, be specific rather than expecting everyone to know the reference. Also, cblogs aren't really for gathering ideas like this, forums are. Use cblogs when you want to share your point of view on a topic and have people discuss it further in comments or to share new and awesome news.
Also, don't take responses so seriously, which is why I posted the image above. You're new here, I once was new here and made a stupid cblog, it happens, blehman is senior diplomat, I'm senior bored at work like most others.

Try to find a certain aspect of gaming that you think can be made into a issue.
Perhaps you want to go for the social aspects. Why video games are the issue of violence and sexual content when its weaker than movies with harsher material.
Maybe you want to research about the development of games. Like the technological side, or narrative side of gaming.
BTW CBLOGS aren't your place to post QUESIONS. Do that in the FORUMS like blehman said.

What kind of class is this for anyway?
But how about something that hasn't been done a jillion times before, like sex in games. Right now, many game characters have... idealized characteristics. Every Guild Wars female model is practically a supermodel. Lara Croft, Cortana, Nariko, and on and on. But few, if any games have a mature treatment of sex. The big media controversies have been over a silly minigame (GTA) and a few-minute barely-PG-13 cutscene used to sell copies (Mass Effect). The Witcher makes it a Pokemon-style "gotta fuck 'em all" minigame--please. Where's the mature treatment of sex?
