Half Life 2: A lot better than I expected.
Kaos Angel | 8:48 AM on 03.01.2008 24 comments

Alright, I admit it; I'm a girl, with a slight fear of FPS for the hard-to-control game play. The only FPS that I have played, passed and actually enjoyed is Metroid Prime Hunters. I used to have almost little to no patience with games like Halo. That was until my bf made me play Half Life 2.

(Awesome pic is awesome.)

I seriously in love with that game! The story line, the plot, the game play, the headcrabs zombies, the antlions, and even that crazy man Gregori. I can't believe I actually made it past Ravenholm.

The game has amazing graphics. I love the way you can actually move around during cut scenes. It makes everything seem more realistic. The different types of zombies, it made the game more difficult, but still hella fun.

I love killing those fast zombies from affar. All you could here in my bf's apartment was me yelling: "I GOT YA MOTHAH F**KAH!" people in the building began to look at me weirdly.

Btw, I love Dog.

I know that this isn't the most interesting blog out there, but I just had to write about it. I felt slightly more hardcore playing that game. Now I'm going to try and play more FPS, now that I see that as long as you like the game itself, you'll eventually get better controlling the game play. Even though the game right now it's on easy, I've been pwning zombies and passing the game even faster than my bf!

I feel so special <3

Also, crowbar FTW.

What did you play it on? PC or Home Consoles.

@power-glove

On a PC. Maybe that's why it was easier to control lol

Nice post!
I need to get The Orange Box on 360.

Also, don't doubt yourself, you made a good post. Plan on playing Portal.
Kaos Angel's Destructoid Blog
Wow, Thank you!

Anyway, I played Portal: The First Slice. I loved it as well. I wish I had a PS3 or a 360 to buy the Orange Box :(

L is such a badass. I never watch any anime due to the blandness and generic content, but Death Note is so refreshing and full of win that I have to watch it.

@dyslixec
Wait..... it is..? OMFG IT IS? I LOVE YOU!

@Roryzilla

Watch it. It is full of win and violence. Don't forget violence. But the story line is great!
WastelandTraveler's Destructoid Blog
yes kaos, this is a game that was built around the pc ;D I do recommend that you play through half-life 1 and its expansions. You will get so much more of a story out of the series ;).

@dyslixec

Yeah, I want to play half-life 1 too. =D Thank you!

Yeah, and if you like Zombies, you should be interested in something called Left 4 Dead, which is published by Valve as well. It is a multiplayer game where you team up with a group of 4 people to try to survive a zombie infestation. The fun part of it is there will be 4 other people that can play special monsters in the level, and will try to stop you from proceeding.

Just wait till you reach Episode 2. That's when the mind blowing really happens.

Ha ha I had a blog just like this. HL2 is my favoritest game ever, even though I haven't finished it yet. I'm still in Ravenholm, and I haven't played in weeks because it would force me to go through all of Ravenholm again, because I accidently deleted my save files after that. And I simply just don't have the time or patience to do that.
Kaos Angel's Destructoid Blog
@liam2015

Ah, I see! Ravenholm is a bit... tedious and kinda creepy. Ok, really creepy... but after Ravenholm the game gets even better, so I suggest you start playing it again!

Also, http://www.hlcomic.com/index.php?date=2005-05-01 Funny as hell...

Great job, now get the Orange Box.

What did you expect really? Half-Life 2 is the best FPS out today. It beats the holy hell out of mediocre FPSs like the Halo series.
mix's Destructoid Blog
HL2 is a great game!

I'm thinking about the Orange Box on PS3 so I can get in on some FNF. Whats better about the PC version though?
Y0j1mb0's Destructoid Blog
Ravenholm Area FTW.
Kaos Angel's Destructoid Blog
@Mix

I dunno really. I think that it's good for those who prefer to play with a mouse and a keyboard, or for those who simply don't have a 360 or a PS3 lol.

@Trevor McGee

Half Life 2 FTMFW!

I did love it when i told you to get ready with the smg ammo ,and you just looked at the abandoned mine entrance to Ravenholm asking "so the zombies are there..?".

What followed was one headcrab falling to it's death and smashing the boards

Take i nmind, we were both together, i was backseat playing her, arguing a bit for some of my tedius tendencies (quicksaving), and the fact that it was pure daylight and my friends where talking behidn us.

She gave this fricking leap up and made a small squeal, cupping her hands and kicking me for laughing my ass of at that.

The rest was just as sexy; seeing your gf killing off fast zombies with class, doing the game faster than you and solving the puzzles faster...

I <3 u Kaos :D

PS: i dragged her to hl2 and to Destructoid. I dont have any regrets.

D0g IS the best character in HL2 besides the Gman.

@Knives
